A Review of the Streamlight TL Racker Shotgun Forend Light on the Remington 870 Marine Magnum

I'm working on my trusty Remington 870, my go-to bedside gun. It's currently outfitted with a Blackhawk Knox stock and foregrip. Initially, I only wanted the stock, but the deal included the foregrip for just an extra $10. The foregrip definitely helps in racking the gun and looks pretty stylish. However, I've decided to upgrade its light source with a Streamlight TLR-2, boasting a whopping 1,000 lumens. Currently, my 870 has a Phoenix flashlight. It's bright, but the strobe function is inconveniently designed, making it tricky to use in high-pressure situations. Notably, the Streamlight doesn't have a strobe feature, but its brightness should be enough to startle any intruders. After a brief pause to watch a tutorial on switching forends, I tested both lights. Indoors, the Phoenix has a narrower beam, but the Streamlight is distinctly brighter and covers a wider area. Outdoors, the difference was even clearer. The Streamlight's illumination was far superior to the Phoenix's 500 lumens. In conclusion, the Streamlight's performance is impressive.

Purchased. Love it, a little bigger than stock. (obviously) ambidextrous switch is a plus. Havent shot it yet. Wondering if and time during recoil or reload will light flash on and off due to where the switches are. I will follow up if possible after i shoot it. Had to wait, it was out of stock. Worth it tho, and they came through, no problems will use MSP again.

Bought this Streamlight tl-racker for my 870 fits perfect and is a very well-made product. Flashlight Distributor has the best price plus free shipping. You do need the correct tool to install it, goes on in less than 5 minutes. Streamlight is working on one for the Mossberg Shockwave. It will be coming out shortly. I’ll be buying it from these folks when it does.

The Streamlight TL racker 870 is the best pump shotgun weapon light. It has a powerful light without a difficult power cord and remote switch. It operates smoothly once mounted and doesn’t interfere with pump operation. It's ambidextrous off/on switching system works correctly for right or left-handed shooters and accommodates people of different sizes.

Great integrated shotgun light, especially for the price. Installed very quickly using the tool included with (ahem. . . ) my previous Magpul forend. Good intermediate beam spread, plenty of output, and excellent ergonomics. The only minor downside (especially for law enforcement entry teams, etc.) is a lack of a lockout switch, so be careful with those big ambidextrous switches if light discipline is a concern.

I installed it on my old 870 express super magnum. I'm definitely no gunsmith and I'm probably just showing my ignorance, but I couldn't get the shotgun to feed with this accessory. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times. The gun fed just fine with the old pump back on. So I loosened the Streamlight pump a bit to give the arms just a tiny bit more length and it started feeding. Definitely not ideal as its a little loose, but at least it works. This shotgun is just intended as a home defense shotgun that is rarely ever handled, so it should be fine, but if you were using it regularly, I would be concerned about it. Maybe that's normal and I'm just ignorant to it. Totally possible! All of that said, I love this pump/light. It does exactly what I wanted it to do.
