Incredibly bright
I was amazed by the brightness of these lights - they exceeded my expectations by reaching 200 yards! Even at a lumen rating of 150, I could see pigs clearly from a distance of 200 yards when using a scope with a 40 mm or larger objective lens. These lights have also proven to be durable, as they have remained securely mounted on my ptr91 rifle through rough handling and over 200 rounds of 308 ammunition without any problems. If you plan on hunting, I highly recommend these lights.
Excellent Light
I intend to use this light for coyote hunting, but I haven't had the opportunity to test it in the woods yet to see how well it performs with no ambient light. However, based on my initial testing, the light is incredibly bright, and I have high hopes for it. I wish it was also available with a red LED option. It is shown in the picture with a pressure switch, but that is not included with the light (I took away one star for this). However, this was not a deal breaker for me since I already have two other Streamlights and the necessary pressure switch and rear door. The light does come with multiple rail keys.
More than a light, but...
\I found that I could see and identify objects up to approximately 250 yards away with this light, but not 350 meters as claimed. While I could make out "eyes" beyond 250 yards, they were not distinct enough to accurately identify an animal, let alone take a shot at it. When I first shone the light on a group of hogs with piglets at about 65 yards, they immediately scattered into the brush, likely due to the intensity of the light reflecting off the trees and brush. The same occurred with solitary boar hogs at 80 yards. However, at 125 yards, the hogs were not disturbed by the green light. My horse also noticed the green light. Coyotes react somewhat to the green light when used at close range but are not bothered by it at a distance. I've found the green light adequate for scanning the ranch and then switching to a red lamp or night vision for more specific tasks. I'm considering adding the light to a 223 rifle for hunting coyotes."
Better than youd think
I am incredibly pleased with this product. It is lightweight, and compact, and the switch makes it very convenient to use. While it may not be a powerful spotting scope, it is excellent at providing a bright, focused center that allows you to quickly identify animals up to 200 yards away. When paired with a thermal monocular, it is possible to shoot even further in low light conditions. Overall, this is an outstanding piece of equipment that would benefit any shooter looking to increase their range at night.
Best green hog hunting light
I'm an avid hog hunter in southwestern Louisiana and central Texas, and I've found that these lights are an excellent choice for shooting pigs. If you're close to your target, try turning the light on well above it, then lowering the beam until you have a clear sight picture. This technique works exceptionally well when hunting hogs that are close by - if you point the light directly at them and flip it on, they'll usually spook and run. I've purchased several of these lights for my hog-hunting friends, who have all been happy with their performance. If you're looking for a reliable light for hog hunting, I'd recommend giving these a try. They're a significant investment and will serve you well on your hunts.
Streamlight TLR-1 Game Spotter green LED light
I recently purchased the Streamlight TLR-1 HL Weapon Mount Tactical Flashlight and am extremely satisfied with its performance. I mounted it onto an AR-15 carbine that I set up as a light varmint rifle, and it has proven to be an excellent choice for shooting in complete darkness. The green LED doesn't seem to disturb animals at all, making it a great option for hunting as well. One thing to note is that this light can be purchased with a mounting kit and remote on/off switch for a little extra money. I highly recommend this option, as it allows you to mount the light on the end of your forearm and place the switch just forward of the receiver for easy access. This setup worked perfectly for me and allowed me to easily see targets up to 100 yards and beyond. Overall, I highly recommend Streamlight products for their value and durability. The TLR-1 HL Weapon Mount Tactical Flashlight is no exception - it's an awesome product that I'm sure you'll be happy with.
I would buy this hunting light again
If you hunt predators or hogs at night and can't afford a second mortgage for modern night optics, this is the way to go. I use the TLR-1 green along with a secondary TLR-1 white on my quad rail.
Super bright and worth the price
Been using this for a few years now, and, as with most any Streamlight product, it hasn't let me down. I can only attest to 100 yd brightness but it is plenty bright for that purpose. I have no doubts using this 200 yds or beyond. As usual, battery life and durability are excellent thus far.
Great light for night time varmints!
Great light for shooting varmints at night. The best part is that the green light does not spook coyotes, raccoons, or pigs! My friends and I have used these lights extensively, and they really WORK out to over 200 yards when used with a decent quality scope. I use these with the Leupold VX-R scopes with the red dot reticle. Just be sure that your rail on the is trued up with the axis of the bore and that the objective bell of the light does not touch anything, and the light will point where you aim. Some folks don't get the mounting correct and then blame the light.
Night Hunting
With all the rain the hogs have been hanging out in the wheat fields. For these longer shots, we have been using 2 to 3 of these fantastic lights on my AR-10. Works very well.
Great light for coyote hunting
I use an extremely accurate S&W M&P 15 to hunt 'notes after dark. This light fits right on the Pic rail, is not obtrusive, and lights up the darkness. The green color does not seem to spook them, and it makes their eyes glow. They can't hide from this. My hunting success has improved since using this light, and that's the bottom line.
