2,000-Lumen Weapon-Mounted Light

The Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 2.0 Weapon Light is a high-performance light that can produce 2,000 lumens of brightness while still maintaining a good run time. It is powered by the SL-B50 battery pack which can be charged both inside and outside of the light using a USB-C cord, making it unnecessary to remove the light from your weapon.

When you shine the new Streamlight ProTac 2.0 into the air, the beam is so absurdly bright that you might hear a voice say, “That’s no moon.” But the light's impressive performance is not the only thing that sets it apart from the competition. Let's take a closer look at all the features that Streamlight has packed into its latest offering.

The ProTac 2.0 Rail Mount is the latest version of Streamlight's oversized, overpowered weapon lights. It boasts an LED emitter that blasts an incredible 2,000 lumens and 17,300 candela. The most noticeable change from previous ProTac models is the tail cap's total redesign. The ProTac 2.0 features both the standard button and a socket with a watertight rubber plug that allows you to plug in a tape switch. This new design makes it easy to remove the battery without unthreading a cap that is tethered to your weapon by a wire.

The ProTac 2.0 uses a proprietary modified rechargeable 18650 battery, Streamlight calls the SL-B50. These are 3.6v lithium-ion batteries that charge via a USB-C cable. Streamlight offers additional batteries for sale for around $30, so you can keep one in the light and one charged, so you’re always ready. The SL-B50 also features an integral LED that glows when plugged in – red for not charged and green for fully charged.

The ProTac 2.0's excellent tape switch is another noteworthy feature. The switch literally fits any gun and includes a polymer Picatinny clamp-on mount that secures the switch to a small segment of rail. If your gun doesn't have pic rails, the switch also features a set of channels on both ends for using a standard zip-tie. And if you have an older firearm, like a wood-stocked Remington 870, the tape also has two pilot holes and a pair of small screws to mount it directly to the forearm.

The ProTac 2.0 also has a 'ten-tap' switch, allowing a shooter to tap and release for constant on, double tap for strobe, or press and hold for momentary. According to Streamlight's website, the ProTac should be able to run on high for two and a half hours and 25 hours on low. When tested, it clocked in at around two hours and 22 minutes on high.

The ProTac 2.0's narrow beam and bright hot spot make it ideal for use on a carbine or rifle, where it can easily illuminate a target out to 200 yards. The light's impressive performance, solid construction, and versatility make it a go-to weapon light. The Streamlight ProTac 2.0 is in a league of its own in terms of build quality, performance, and versatility, making it the perfect weapon light for hog hunting or anyone who needs to illuminate targets beyond 75 yards.
