Just Right
I am a Vortex fan and I own several Vortex optics. I decided to upgrade the optic on my .308 Win, but the Viper PS-T like I have on my.338 Lapua seemed a little over the top for a .308 so I looked at Vortex's offerings and found a scope that seemed just right. The Viper HS-T indeed is just the right fit, and my .308 is now a thousand+ yard rifle. The Vortex is known for... clear optics, positive and repeatable adjustments, and features only found on far more expensive optics. Ya just can't beat that.
Great Scope
I bought this riflescope due to the fact that Vortex has a super reputation for quality. Mounted this scope on a Remington 700 custom build. Optics performed flawlessly at all power ranges and out to the edge clarity, no matter what the distance. The scope itself is built very well and can be compared to other scopes in the $700-$1000 range—no reason to spend BIG BUCKS with quality like this. Thumbs up to Vortex; you knocked it out of the park with this scope.
More than you pay for.
I picked this up on sale, and you cannot buy a better scope for the money. This was the clear winner after spreadsheets, charts, etc., between everything even near the price range. Multiple trips to the range have confirmed it. It adjusts accurately, is superbly clear at the price point, and the turrets are excellent. If you could only buy one scope, this would be my recommendation. I have multiple Zeiss scopes and a Nightforce, but this scope rides my hunting rifle. The warranty cannot be beaten, and neither can this scope at this price point.
Awesome scope for the price
I have this scope mounted to a 243 win and use it for target/varmint shooting. The optics are super clear to the edges, the crosshairs are not too small, and the hash increments are spot on. The target turrets have very positive clicks. Shooting out to 400 yards, I will not need the zero stop, but it is a nice feature and does work. All in all, this is a rugged (a bit heavy) well-built scope, and would not hesitate to purchase another.
Solid!
The Vortex 30mm 4-16X44 (side focus) VMR-1 MRAD HS-T Riflescope is a lot of scope for the money. Years ago, I mounted a Vortex 4-12X40 Viper (BDC) on the then-new TC Dimension chambered for the .308 Win on the recommendation of a friend, a former die-hard Leupold customer. I'm thrilled with that setup. I mounted an HS-T on a new Browning 6.5 CM X-Bolt this year. I read a lot about the 6.5 Creedmoor and decided to take the plunge. Though the dream buck I was hunting didn't show, I did fill the freezer with a nice plump doe. It goes without saying: when we put in the work, returns on the effort are worth the time; but, that said, having great glass atop a rifle that shoots 15-second groups--at a reasonable price point--makes the investment all the more satisfying!
Superb Tactical Optic
I purchased this optic about eight months ago, and it hasn't let me down yet. I've owned many top-tier optics and can tell you that you don't need to take out a loan to get the job done (when it comes to Vortex optic quality.) Mil/mil, excellent optical clarity, quality built on a robust 30mm main tube, and their warranty is the best around!
On my Lapua
I was skeptical at first, being put on my 338 Lapua mag a year ago now. Tracking is fine, holds zero fine. You can't beat the price. A thousand or so 338 magnum rounds down the pipe... I'm building a 6 Creedmoor and will most likely purchase the same scope
GREAT SCOPE!
I bought this scope last year to put on my rem 700 LR for elk hunting and was very impressed with how fast it was to zero at 200 yrds, and the brass adj rings used to lock in the zero and return to zero are a great idea. But if you are not familiar with the milliradian type of scope or what a milliradian is, then get the model in MOA. I also liked the second focal plane type reticle it has. I shot a cow elk this year at 298 yrds and new I had a .5mil hold over at that range and was dead on. I just used the half mill line on the reticle. I would have turned the turret up, but they were moving to quickly.. I am now looking at getting a second one for my T/C encore 300.
Excellent value
I purchased two of these as upgrade replacements for my two Viper HS 5-15x44. The optical quality to my eye is slightly but noticeably better than the HS 5-15x, and I really like the mil-hash reticle. I haven't tested tracking & repeatability so only four stars for now, but for those who want a mid-power mil/mil optic but don't need illumination or FFP, this is a great option.
Can't Beat It
I purchased this scope with very high expectations based on what I had read about them, and I have to say I'm still very impressed. Compared to scopes that are triple the cost of this one, I have to say I prefer the Vortex brightness, and its clarity is just as sharp, too, although it took some time to get it just right. I like the reticle a lot; it's nice to have the option of dialing at the range or holding over while hunting. It is outstanding, though, which makes the brightness a lot more valuable. A lot of people complained that it didn't come with anything except a lens cover, so when I opened it, I was surprised to see a sunshade included. The clicks are very firm and audible, and while the zero stop seems overly complicated, it works as it should. It tracks flawlessly and always returns to a perfect zero. This is mounted on a .300 Winchester magnum, and I am looking forward to getting it out past 600 yards when I have the room. The only thing I wish was different about the scope would be a 50 mm objective option. Overall I could not be happier with this scope.
