These caps are versatile and can fit up to a 52mm objective lens. They aren't exclusive to Vortex scopes; I've used them on various brands. Once fitted, they provide a watertight seal around the lens. A standout feature is the spring-loaded wings; with a simple push, they pop open and stay that way. Another cool feature, especially for the rear cap, is its adjustability, allowing you to easily view ballistic info without taking the cap off. If you've invested in a high-quality scope, it's crucial to have decent lens covers. The standard ones provided are often subpar, making these Vortex Defender caps, at their price point, a must-have. Given the amount many spend on quality glass for firearms, protecting that investment with these caps makes total sense. So, in conclusion, these Vortex Defender lens caps are a solid buy.

I've previously discussed scope caps, mainly to address whether they limit one's view through a scope. The simple answer is no; they just add a bit of thickness to the scope's exterior, which isn't a deal-breaker considering their value. I've decided to review my favorite set: the Vortex-made scope caps. They're American-made and retail at $40 for both front and rear caps. These caps stand out because, rather than hard plastic, they have a soft rubber skirt. This feature ensures a snug fit and also provides weather sealing, particularly for the fast focus eyepiece at the rear, preventing it from turning easily. The front cap, while having the same rubber skirt, has a two-position feature. When it's flat, it doesn't obstruct your view, and you can look right over your scope. The rear has a vertical opening feature which allows for easy reading of a "dope disc" you can place inside, showing your preferred settings. If you find it obstructive, you can position it at an angle or lay it flat. The beauty of these caps is that they are versatile, fitting not just Vortex scopes but others like my Steiner p4 xi 4 to 16 mounted on a precision Howa mini action in 223. For $40, these caps offer excellent value.

I'm a fan of Vortex Optics because they genuinely listen to their customers. Their growth over the last 10-15 years shows their commitment to quality. A significant number of scopes used in the Precision Rifle Series are from Vortex, and many top-end competitions even feature 60-70% Vortex Razors. Their PST line, for instance, offers excellent value for money; they provide high-end features at an affordable price. They also addressed a market gap with their Vortex Defender flip caps. While other brands like Butler Creek have been around for a long time, their scope caps weren't up to par, especially for more expensive optics. Tenebraex offers premium, expensive scope covers, but not everyone can afford them. Vortex cleverly filled this gap by offering quality, affordable scope covers with the Defender line. Their construction is robust, mostly rubber, ensuring a tight fit and durability. They've even included features like 'dope disc' cards, which allow users to note their specific rifle settings for quick reference. In summary, if you're in the market for quality, affordable scope caps, Vortex's Defender caps are the best. They outperform brands like Butler Creek, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I have used Butler Creek in the past and got along fine with them but since I had a Vortex Scope and needed scope covers decided to give Vortex covers a try. They are a bit bulkier than Butler creek but seem to be better built, and the way they are constructed fit very well over scope lenses. Positive open and close.

The objective cover has survived a hunting season with me, and it is still operative and attached. It works well. Now, if Vortex could make their eye piece work similar, It would be a great set.

I am using these in multiple sizes on multiple scopes. Easy to install and stays put on high-recoil rifles. Other products move, close, or just fall off.

I use these on a tactical rifle. They are highly durable, And very functional. They may not have some "designer" features, but for a serious-use application, these guys are down and dirty, reliable.

I've come to rely on Vortex for all my optics needs; I have Vortex scopes on all of my weapons. Not to say that there aren't other scopes that are not as good, or even better, but for the price, quality, and the no questions asked VIP Warranty, you can't go wrong with Vortex.

These Vortex flip-up scope caps are excellent - strong, heavy rubber and plastic construction of quality materials, and the opening/closing mechanisms feel like they will last a lifetime. I am using them on a Vortex Strike Eagle 4-24x50, and as a Vortex product, they fit like they were made for it! The Vortex flip-up objective cover fits the 50mm objective perfectly. My only caution if you use these on a bolt-action rifle - when you cycle the bolt, be aware of how close it is to the eyepiece, as it may rub on the eyepiece cap. This is a consideration for any scope cap and isn't unique to the Vortex product. These caps are strong and function well - quality gear.

After years of broken butler creek scope covers, Vortex came out with seemingly unbreakable covers with a lifetime warranty; three position fold flat ability and dope friendly eyepiece cover.

I got this for my vortex 3x9x50 scope and they work great. A tight fit but they hold rock solid. They open and close easy too.

This is the only product review I have ever written, but I felt compelled to do so. I have been searching for a more durable scope cap option that doesn't cost $100, and these are exactly what I wanted. I've used Butler Creeks before, and while they performed ok, I always wished for two improvements: More robust construction and lids that folded back flat to prevent obstructing my view over the rifle. These Vortex caps are absolutely a home run. All my rifles will eventually wear them. Vortex is listening to what shooters want. With these scope caps and some of their riflescope features, it's like I designed them myself!
