    Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16x44 FFP

Don't be surprised when you see the price tag of the Vortex Diamondback Tactical FFP after learning about its outstanding performance and features. It offers a first focal plane reticle, a feature typically found on optics that cost thousands of dollars, allowing shooters to use the information-packed EBR-2C reticles for ranging, holdovers or windage corrections on any magnification setting. The scope is encased in a rugged, one-piece aluminum tube that houses a 4x optical system that provides exceptional edge-to-edge clarity and sharp resolution. The exposed elevation and windage turrets are low profile enough to not get in the way during transport but offer quick, easy, and precise adjustments for dialing in accurate shots at a distance. Additionally, the side adjustable parallax allows for peace of mind by eliminating parallax error from 10 yards to infinity.

Features and Benefits of the Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50:

    Optical Features

    • Shockproof - Rugged construction withstands recoil and impact.
    • Hard Anodized Finish - Highly durable hard-coat anodization provides a low-glare matte surface and helps camouflage the shooter's position.

    Internal Mechanism Design Features

    • Precision-Force Spring System - Uses premium components in the erector-spring system to ensure maximum repeatability and ease of adjustment.
    • Precision-Glide Erector System - This system ensures the components in the zoom lens mechanism glide smoothly and cleanly through all magnification ranges.

    Convenience Features

The Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16x44 FFP Riflescope is a high-performance optic designed for long-range shooting. The first focal plane reticle allows for the use of the information-packed EBR-2C reticle for ranging, holdovers, and windage corrections on any magnification setting. This allows the shooter to accurately adjust for bullet drop and wind drift at any distance.

The scope features a 4x zoom system that delivers excellent edge-to-edge clarity and sharp resolution. The 44mm objective lens gathers plenty of light for a bright and clear sight picture, even in low-light conditions. The exposed elevation and windage turrets are low-profile yet provide quick, easy, and precise adjustments for dialing in accurate shots at a distance. The turrets are also resettable to zero, allowing the shooter to quickly return to their original zero after making elevation and windage adjustments.

The side adjustable parallax allows for the removal of parallax error from 10 yards to infinity. This feature helps to ensure that the reticle is aligned with the impact point at any distance, giving the shooter peace of mind. The scope is housed in a one-piece, aircraft-grade aluminum tube that is rugged and durable, making it built to withstand the rigors of the field. The Diamondback Tactical 4-16x44 FFP Riflescope is ideal for those who want a high-quality, versatile, and reliable optic for long-range shooting.

    Excellent scope for the price

I have this scope mounted on several rifles and have been very satisfied with their performance. The glass and image quality is apparent, although not as good as the PST Gen 2, which is to be expected from a scope that costs less than half as much. I am a big fan of the EBR-2C MOA reticle, which is the same as on my Viper PST Gen 2, making it easy to switch between rifles. Additionally, this scope has a parallax adjustment down to 20 yards, which is particularly useful for me as I sometimes need to shoot indoors at 25 yards and on rimfire rifles where shots are often under 50 yards. I feel a few things could be improved on this scope. Firstly, the exposed turrets have mushy clicks and are not as tactile as the higher-end scopes. This is understandable, given the price point of the scope. Secondly, while they do their job, the scope covers can be a bit challenging to get on and off the scope. They are made of rubber and are a "bikini-style" cover, which can be challenging to put on and remove. They also tend to grip the scope tightly, which can cause the eyepiece focus ring to be moved around, requiring re-focusing of the reticle often. Overall, for a FFP scope, this is an excellent deal for the price, especially for shooters looking for a high-quality image and a versatile reticle but with a less expensive price tag than some of the top-end scopes.

    Home Run Vortex

I recently purchased this scope for mounting on my Ruger American Ranch in 5.56. I was looking for a front focal plane scope that wouldn't break the bank, as you get what you pay for in optics. After reading all the great reviews, I bought a Primary Arms 4-14x44, but I ended up selling it quickly, as I found that the turrets were mushy and didn't line up with the indicator when dialed. I also looked at the new Bushnell Nitro line, but their turrets can't be slipped back to zero - which was a deal breaker for me. However, this is different with this Vortex scope! The glass is clear, the turrets are tactile and crisp, and they are resettable to zero. The EBR-2C reticle is well thought out and great for elevation and wind holdovers. I mounted it with a pair of SWFA low 30mm rings. After zeroing, I have 14.5 mils left of adjustment, which is plenty for the caliber. I still need to check the tracking of the scope, which is one reason why this isn't getting 5 stars. Another reason is the lack of a revolution indicator on the turret, so when shooting, you have to keep exactly how much elevation you dialed to return to zero. The parallax is a bit finicky; you must tune it from target to target to get a crisp image, more so than on other optics I own. But for the price, Vortex has knocked it out of the park! I am even considering purchasing their 6-24x50. All in all, this is a great little scope with fantastic value for the price!

Put it on a Ruger Precision Rimfire. Haven't used it a lot yet but did shoot a .22 "tactical" match with it and did well. Glass clarity is good, nice positive click adjustments and a great reticle. It's a good one for rimfires as the parallax adjusts down to 20 yards for close stuff, and the 4 power is useable for offhand shots. I haven't even used the first focal plane feature yet. Good scope, excellent value.

I have this scope mounted on several rifles and have been very happy with them. The glass/image quality is very clear, not as good as the PST Gen 2, but you really can't expect that from a scope that costs less than half. I'm a big fan of the EBR-2C MOA reticle, the same reticle as on my Viper PST Gen 2; it makes going back and forth between various rifles a lot easier. This scope also has the parallax adjustment down to 20 yards; that really comes in handy for me as sometimes I am limited to shooting indoors at 25 yards. I also have these mounted on rimfire rifles, and often, those shots are under 50 yards. There are two things that I feel could be better. First, the turrets. I like that they are exposed, but the clicks are a bit mushy, not nearly as tactile as their higher-end scopes... again, you get what you pay for. Second, the scope covers. The content comes with a rubber bikini-style cover that you have to wrestle with a bit to get over the objective and ocular. I've slingshotted it across the room a few times. Also, unlike plastic bikini covers that just slip on, these rubber covers grip the scope, so if they move, they also turn the eyepiece focus ring; not a big deal, but it means I need to re-focus the reticle often. Overall, for an FFP scope, it is an excellent deal for the price.

Mounted this vortex diamondback tactical scope on a 7mm Rem Mag for elk hunting. On a lead sled, it took five shots to bring it to zero at 100 yards. Then it put three rounds through the same hole. What is not to like about that?

Bought this Vortex 4-16x44 diamondback tactical ffp riflescope for an ar for 300 and less precision shooting. And wow, I was blown away for how good it was for a budget buy. I highly recommend this optic! Very nice clarity at full zoom. No haze around the edging. Another great scope by vortex!

Great riflescope. The vortex diamondback tactical 4-16x44ia better than I expected for this price range. It has very clear glass and a great reticle. Unbelievable value for an FFP scope. I would buy another if I had a gun to put it on. It was shipped fast too.

I placed this vortex 4-16x44 diamondback tactical scope on my Savage 110 tactical in 308, and it performs. I was looking for a Mil-dot scope that would work for both hunting and tactical applications, and this scope delivers on both. You won't break the bank but will have everything necessary to reach out and hit the target. The adjustments are spot on, and the glass is pretty clear for an optic in this price range. I've even already dropped it a few times, and it still holds zero. If you are in the market, go ahead and pull the trigger. (pun intended)

Bought together with the Vortex mount. The very nice and sturdy piece at the price. The first day at the range sighted in great. I will be back and looking forward to the fine-tuning. All the great features needed with anti-fog/ weatherproofing. The reticle is a bit too fine, almost transparent; but it should look great on clear days (I'm in N. WA)

vortex diamondback tactical 4-16x44 ffp review

I bought this vortex diamondback tactical scope roughly nine months ago and waited to leave a review. It has been tested at the range (desert shooting) and hunting. I bought it to mount on my Ruger American Predator 6.5 CM, and it is mounted with a DMZ single piece scope ring. Keep in mind I would be considered a novice, but I enjoy shooting and hunting, and I am learning. My experience with a variateybof scopes is lacking. However, I am impressed with this scope. At 4x, I would feel confident seeing the crosshairs out in the field of trying to shoot a close deer range. In full 16x, it has excellent clarity. It holds its zero well. I wanted to take it out to the desert before hunting to check it’s zero, and the first shot at 100 yds was dead center, not an exaggeration. I couldn’t have poked a pencil through it and done a better job. The following shots were right there too. Adjustments appear to be accurate based on sighting in, will practice more with not using holdovers and using the turrets. The clarity in low light is excellent. I spotted a deer just at first light when I could hardly see. I pulled my gun out laid down and looked through the scope to see what it was. Unfortunately, it was a doe but could see this clear as day with little light at full power. Keep in mind I had just turned off my headlamp a few minutes prior while hiking in. I do not understand the comments that say this is a downfall to this scope. Same with last light when testing it out in the backcountry with bushes and rocks mixed in the background, excellent clarity, and easy to see everything in detail. I would recommend for as a hunting scope, especially when dealing with open terrain like big game hunting in the western US, where you may have to take longer shots. I have complete confidence in my gun, partly due to this scope.
