SureFire EP4 Sonic Defenders Plus
Filtered Flanged Earplugs
EP4 Sonic Defenders® Plus protect your hearing without interfering with your capacity to hear routine sounds or conversations. Their triple-flanged stem design fits larger ear canals and supplies a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 24dB. Sounds, at stable levels, are permitted to pass through into the ear canal, although potentially harmful noises (above 85dB) are reduced through a proprietary design that incorporates a particular noise-reducing filter. EP4s contain attached filter caps, which can be added for additional protection and blocking out lower-level noise, such as that heard on a plane, where hearing nearby sounds or conversations is not critical. Right/left color-coded Sonic Defenders Plus are made from a soft yet durable, hypoallergenic polymer that provides all-day relaxation and an elongated product life (up to 6months, based on care and usage ). Their patented EarLock® retention rings lock the earplugs in place, while soft, adjustable triple-flanged stems provide secure seals at the ear canals. A low-profile design signifies EP4s can be worn while wearing a helmet or mask, or while using a phone or headset. Offered in black, clear, or orange.
Cozy EP4 Sonic Defenders Plus also serve as earpieces for compatible radio communication systems by removing the noise-reducing filter and attaching the earpiece to the system. NOTE: EP4 earpiece no longer supplies hearing protection once the noise-reducing filter has been removed.
EP4s can be located in small (S), moderate (M), and large (L). Proper size is based on the dimensions of your ear's concha bowl. Size"moderate" fits many men and women. For those with smaller (in diameter) ear canals, the two-flange stem of our EP3 Sonic Defenders might offer a better match than the EP4's three-flange stem.

EP4 Sonic Defenders Plus are sold as one left/right place or inside a box containing 25 sets. Each set is packed in a convenient carry case and includes a polymer lanyard.

great for skeet/trap can hear to talk and quiets shotgun blast quite well. works well with muffs while shooting large cal. pistol/rifle

The surefire ep4 give just enough protection against the shotgun report, but allows you to hear the birds and conversation adequately. The right size is critical, however.

These Surefire ep4 Sonic Defenders are a great value! They come in a small plastic carry case so you can carry them in your pocket going to the range. I also wear earmuff style hearing protection in an indoor range, but outdoors they are the cat's pajamas. I have a hard time keeping hearing protection in my ears normally, but these stay in well and are very comfortable. Not to mention you can easily hear others talking.

These fit an ear helix of 1". They are very comfortable and are quickly forgotten. Without electronics, these plugs do a fantastic job of filtering the louder sounds while keeping conversations on the range reasonable. They also have a plug which, in theory, can be used to knock out almost all noises. I haven't tried it, but it should work well on airplane flights. The only downside (and the reason I gave 4 of 5 stars) is that they have a lifespan of "6 to 60 months". I hope that this set lasts a bit more than 6 months! But for the price here at Brownells - who can complain.

I have been using these EP4 Sonic Defender earplugs for a couple of years now. They are an EDC item for me. I am on my second pair simply because I've lost my first one. I wear them for long periods (4-6 hrs. at a time)while running heavy factory machinery, and find them very comfortable. They do a great job blocking out the loud machine noise at work, and gun reports at the range. The inner plugs work well at maximizing the hearing protection (from 18 to 25dbl.) for shooting indoors or when I pick up my SOCOM rifle with its loud compensator. The pair in my pocket right now have been in use over a year (every day carry). In fact, they've outlasted the case they came in, and I believe I'll still get a few more months out of them. I do clean them occasionally by soaking them in dish water and peroxide.

These are the best hearing protection I've ever used. You can also remove the hard plastic piece and insert the cord from your earbud mic. The surefire ep4 sonic defenders allow you to shoot with your radio on and baffles high tones on the radio. If this feature is advertised, I sure missed it. Great for handgun and rifle.

I needed another pair of in-ear baffled earplugs as my Sonic Valve II plugs have become stiff and uncomfortable. I tried these ep4 sonic defenders, and they're great. I wear these under my over-ear muffs for added protection and whenever my ear muffs are temporarily pulled back to hear range commands or communicate while checking targets etc. Practical, easy to insert and remove, very soft, comfortable plug, and they stay put. No "stuffed-up" feeling with these either due to the open baffle design.

I use these surefire ep4 ear protection for tactical range training where muffs are impractical and loud concerts too. I also use a small set for my two-year-old to prevent water intrusion to her ears with tubes. I know it is not advertised to avoid water intrusion, but it seems to work ok for it. I like the different levels of protection available from one set of plugs. Open for just observing, closed for more close-in activities, and I have learned for maximum protection I can push them further into the ear, and more sound will be blocked. A better case would be the only possible improvement.

The SureFire EP4 Sonic Defenders are incredible! You have to get them inside your ear canal all the way, The original pair I had was EP3, and somehow, I lost them. They were great also.

Very fine quality ear protection. The SureFire EP4 work very well. I'm a medium size guy, and these work fine with the med size. My wife's tried them in her ears, and they are a little bit big. She would need a small size. I like them. Good price, thanks MSP.
