The Magpul barrel clamp & Forward Sling Mount offers versatile attachment options, with the option of QD or clip attachment. Installation is simple and quick, and the clip can be positioned to best fit the operator's preference. The only challenge I encountered during installation was ensuring the included silicone pads, designed to protect the barrel and magazine tube from scratches, securely adhered inside the mount.

Mounted with ease

I was excited about this Remington 870 front sling attachment when I first saw it. As an armorer for a law enforcement agency, I had been looking for a forward sling attachment that worked with a QD sling attachment. The Magpul mount fits the bill without the mass of some other mounts. It worked very well on some shotguns. I have many 870s in inventory with more than 20 years old. We also have a variety of magazine extensions. As previously mentioned in a review, this product will not work with every barrel/extension combination. I checked the outside dimensions of the extensions and barrel (factory barrels) with a micrometer. There is a variation in the dimensions of both the barrels and the extensions. The bottom line is if it fits on your barrel/extension combination, then it is a great product.

I bought this Remington 870 sling attachment because the clamp that came with my magazine extension didn't fit right. This clamp is well made and fits perfectly. The included pads will not prevent marks on your barrel from the clamp, but they do keep the brace in place under recoil. A hex nut was included if you don't want the sling mount. Highly recommended.

I purchased this clamp for mounting to an 870 Police Magnum with a Wilson Combat 2+ mag ext. tube. This clamp did not fit this combination. The spacing between the barrel and ext. tube was too small. However, this clamp did fit perfectly onto the same 870 Police Magnum when used with a Remington 2+ ext. Tube. The outer diameter of the Remington ext. tube is slightly smaller than that of the Wilson Combat ext. tube. I'm rating this item a 3 for lack of published specifications regarding the supported barrel and ext. tube diameter combinations.

I had been waiting for this since the release of the SGA 870 buttstock. Easy install on an 870 equipped with a magazine extension. Magpul includes self-adhesive silicone pads that are installed in cast recesses in the clamps and bear against the barrel and extension surfaces. Nice touch as I usually have to use electrical tape. If you want to use the clamp without the HK snap link hook, Magpul includes the nuts required to lock the clamping screw in place. Double-check with Magpul but it appears to be compatible with ball bearing push-button sling swivels as well. Just for grins, I did some test fits on a Mossberg 500 and 590A1. As expected, it did not fit, and it did not appear some judicious Dremel tool work would help. All in all a great piece of Magpul kit.

There can be no doubt it is a solid clamp. It's well made, excellent finish, etc. I used mine with a Nordic component +2 extension and fits both barrels. I would have given it a five, except for the following. 1) the screw that comes with it is a 1/2 hex head bolt. It is not long enough to secure the two halves of the clamp together. For anyone interested, the exact replacement you need is a grade 8, socket head 8-32 3/4" for those who aren't fastener savvy the grade 8 refers to hardness, 8-32 to the size and thread spacing, and 3/4" of course is the length. I just thought that might help anyone in a similar boat. 2) the rubber pads that I received were supposed to be self-adhesive. They are not. They required me to glue them to the inside of the clamp to keep the clamp from scratching the barrels. All in all, good product, get a longer screw and a couple of drops of super glue for the rubber pads, and you're good to go. Just odd for Magpul since everything else I've ever bought from them has been nearly flawless.

I just got through putting this on my 870, and I'm pleased with the results. A nicely made piece that works as advertised. I would have rated it a five if it wasn't for the way it's set up for the QD arrangement. The nut (2 supplied because they know you will probably lose one) they'd like you to use are a real pain. I got around it by using the fixed sling mount instead on the opposite side. Not as clean amount that way, but loads more comfortable to handle. Also added the Magpul MS4 sling and GG&G QD receiver plate to complete the mod. It all works together flawlessly.

I mean, it's Magpul, so what else is there to say? Although Remington 1100 was not listed as compatible, the 870 was so I took a chance. Fits perfect, and the sling mount is a nice touch, as was the included pads to save your barrel finish. Speaking of finish, it's excellent. If you're like me and the thought of throwing a $7 stamped metal, poorly finished excuse for a barrel clamp on your weapon doesn't sit right, you absolutely should spend the money.

I have an older Mossberg 500, and this fits it perfectly. It does not have an extended magazine tube, but there is enough room between the forend the barrel nut for it to fit.

I've got the Magpul Forward Sling Mount on my Remington 870 Tactical Express. It was easy to install, the Mount fits great, and there are no sharp edges to snag. It's made of cast metal and has not loosened during use (there was locktite already on the screw).

The Magpul Forward Sling Mount installs in about 5 min. Aesthetically pleasing and provides a solid point to attach the sling. Worth every cent.
