Solid Optic for the Price Point
I installed this scope on my 350 Legend AR-15, as I was looking for a short-range hunting optic with a broad field of view. The glass is exceptionally clear, though there may be a slight distortion on the edges at 6x magnification. Accessing the battery compartment can be a bit challenging. The illuminated reticle functions optimally at lower intensities, while higher intensities tend to dominate the view of the centerline. Overall, I'm delighted with my purchase and consider it a great investment.
I own four of 'em
This compact scope is truly impressive. I've mounted it on various rifles, including two AR15s, an AR10, and a short 308 bolt-action rifle. The glass quality is superb, and the reticle is just the right balance without being overly cluttered. The illumination is bright enough for daytime use and offers suitable settings for nighttime use, both with and without white light. The illuminated horseshoe and center dot are ideal for quick, red-dot style snapshots at 1x and moving targets at any magnification. The scope's durability is commendable, as it has withstood years of abuse from hunting, training, and rough handling during night shifts in a patrol cruiser. The PEPR mount is sturdy, and I have no complaints. While this may not be the epitome of LPVO perfection, any competing scope would need to be heavily discounted before I would even consider choosing it over this remarkable Burris scope.
Burris R-T6
This rifle scope is exceptional value for money. Initially, I intended to replace my AimPoint PRO on my patrol rifle with this Burris scope, but after a side-by-side comparison, I noticed the Burris was somewhat heavier. As a result, I decided to mount it on a different AR instead. The scope's clarity is outstanding, and I'm confident that I'll thoroughly enjoy using it! It's important to note that the weight is not overly burdensome – it's just enough of a difference for me to continue using the PRO as my go-to option at work.
Best LPVO for the money
To put it briefly, this scope is fantastic. For the AR platform, it's lightweight and provides sufficient magnification to accomplish the task at hand. The reticle is simple and functional, reminiscent of some ACSS reticles, but less cluttered. The glass quality outshines other scopes in this price range, and the illumination is adequate. The throw lever feels just right. The only feature I wish it included, which is available with higher-priced scopes, is scope covers. However, there are numerous alternatives for that purpose. The Burris "Forever Warranty" is transferable, which is a nice touch, although I don't foresee using it. I've just bought a second scope and plan to use it across multiple rifles for consistent training. I absolutely love it!
decent glass, good entry level 3 gun or tactical rifle scope
The glass quality exceeded my expectations for a $350 scope, and the illuminated reticle is visible even in daylight. However, the crosshairs and holdovers are not illuminated. The illuminated reticle functions well at 1x, serving as an impromptu red dot sight (similar to EOTech's "donut of death"). The glass remains clear in low light, and the holdovers are reliable with 62-grain SS109 rounds up to at least 300 meters. I believe this scope is worth the investment, but I'm giving it only four stars due to the overpriced and excessively heavy Burris mount. With six screws per ring and no provided tool, I had to make a trip to the hardware store, costing me a day. The entire setup is large, heavy, and sturdy, and I would consider purchasing the scope again but not the $150 Chinese-made mount that doesn't even include a star wrench.
Decent scope but overpriced
I purchased this scope with the Fastfire III attachment on top. It took just 20 rounds to sight it in at 50 yards. The scope is solidly built, easy to mount, and user-friendly. However, I deducted one star because the maximum effective range of this scope is limited to about 75 yards, making it unsuitable for medium to long-distance shots as I initially thought. Contrary to some reviews I found during my research, this scope is not accurate up to 200 yards if you want to hit the center of your target. The Fastfire III is excellent and performs well, offering three brightness levels. The scope's illumination feature has 10 levels of brightness, although you won't typically use it during daytime shooting. It's still a nice addition. Focusing the scope was a bit tricky, as there isn't a distinct focus ring; instead, you rotate the edge of the eyepiece. This detail wasn't mentioned in the manual or marked on the scope itself. Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase, but for a price tag over $500, I expected more and hoped the scope would be better.
batter cap is wrenched on
I was thrilled to receive my new Burris RT-6 scope and wasted no time mounting it on my rifle. Once mounted, I attempted to turn on the illumination only to realize that the battery needed to be installed. I've spent over an hour trying to remove the battery cap, as it is incredibly tight and offers little grip. There's no reason for an empty battery compartment to be this difficult to open, and I'm trying my best not to scratch my new scope while using tools. Apart from the battery issue, the scope appears to be of high quality. I appreciate the reticle and the throw lever.
Excellent optic that leaves little to be desired
Before sharing my thoughts in this review, I wanted to ensure that I had spent enough time using the optic while it was mounted on my rifle. So far, I've fired over 1000 rounds with the RT6 mounted and attended a 3-day HSP course. Although I'm relatively new to the target shooting world, I believe my experience can offer some valuable insights. The eye relief is excellent for me, particularly when compared to other LPVOs I've researched and tested. Adjustments are tactile, straightforward, and well-marked. After setting a zero each morning for an extended period, I can attest to the optic's ability to hold a zero consistently, even in challenging, dirty, and rough conditions. The zoom is tactile and incredibly smooth. I encountered no distortion or mirage when shooting out to 300+ yards in hot, dusty, and low-light conditions. The reticle is crystal clear, and the mounting system is secure, withstanding the aforementioned conditions without any movement. The only aspect of this optic that I'm not entirely satisfied with is the reticle's illumination. Even at the maximum setting of 10, the brightness is just sufficient. However, this is a minor issue, as I rarely find the need for an illuminated reticle in daylight conditions. Against a black background, the brightness is not an issue even in extremely bright conditions.
Excellent value
I purchased the bundle deal and found it to be an excellent value with an incredibly clear optic. I wasn't too keen on the red dot being on top of the scope due to the sight over bore issue. For CQB purposes, it's preferable to have the red dot closer to the bore. I ended up mounting the red dot on a Ruger Mark 4 instead. The RT6 is a "set-and-forget" type of optic, not intended for constant adjustments. I zeroed it in at 52 yards for a 55-grain 5.56 round, and I can effectively use the center dot for hitting 10" targets from 10 to 300 yards. The reticle can also be employed for approximate range estimation if you're willing to do some calculations based on the subtensions. This scope is far superior to red dot sights or open sights, and it's available at a comparable price point.
Great scope
I compared this scope with the Vortex Strike Eagle and found that the features of this scope surpassed its competitor. One standout feature is the illumination dial, which has off positions between each setting, allowing for quick access when needed without having to cycle through the settings from the off position. The reticle is sharp, and the glass quality is outstanding for its price range. Setting up the scope is straightforward and accurate, but be mindful of the turret markings, as they don't click. The only minor issue is replacing the battery, as its cap is tightly sealed and might be challenging to open. You may need to enlist the help of someone with strong hands to assist you. Overall, this scope performs exceptionally well and stands out in its category.
Great LPVO
Fantastic optics with superior glass quality. I had the opportunity to compare the Vortex Razor, Strike Eagle, and this Burris scope, and the Burris emerged as the clear winner, particularly considering the price point. However, be mindful that this scope is quite hefty in terms of weight, so if you're not aiming for a lightweight setup, this won't be an issue for you.
