Looks exactly like a Seekins - some quality issues

I had heard rumors that Seekins produced the Vortex line of Precision scope mounts as well as the Vortex top of the line rings. I have a Seekins MXM mount and the build quality/design is extremely similar to this Vortex Precision 30mm / 20 MOA mount. The main differences is that the Vortex has more of a cantilever design pushing the scope more forward of the mount, and it also weighs 228 grams versus the 193 grams I measured from a Seekins MXM 30mm 0 MOA. The Seekins could be used on an AR15 as well as a bolt gun. Both the Seekins and Vortex have recoil lugs under each rail mount. The Vortex has more lightening cuts and less material but somehow weighs more than the Seekins MXM. The Vortex comes with a small card showing torque specs (45-50 in-lb for the rail screws and 15-18 in-lb for the ring cap screws). Seekins did not provide this, but said something similar when I asked them directly about recommended torque specs. The only draw back is that these aren't QD mounts like a LaRue. Upon checking the screws, I found two that were getting stripped as I removed them from the factory position. Looks like the manufacturer didn't cut the threads properly. My Seekins MXM was made better. Also the cantilever design seems more suited for an AR15 and the load points are way too centered in one position. I am not too thrilled with the overall design. It looks and feels like the Seekins MXM but made to a worse design. The Seekins MXM is more load-balanced and is much lighter. Also in case anyone is wondering, the 20 MOA cant allows you an extra 20 MOA or 5.81 MRAD of elevation. With an EBR-2C or EBR-7C style reticle, you may not need this extra elevation depending on your caliber. After looking at some ballistics for 77gr 5.56/223, 308, 300 Win Mag, 338 Lapua Magnum, and 338 Norma Magnum, I have found that the 20 MOA and higher cant is not needed unless you step up to 338 Lapua Magnum with really heavy and fast bullets (the extremely long range loads) with an EBR-2C/7C style reticle. If you use another style of reticle with less stadia markings, then you may need a 20 MOA or higher cant. But if you are running a Vortex scope with the EBR 2C/7C reticle and firing 300 Win Mag or lower calibers, the 20 MOA cant isn't needed and is rather overkill. Especially with 5.56/.223 or .308 contrary to how people hype up 308 to be some extra long range cartridge. Overall: 4/5 stars, mine came with 2 holes that were not tapped properly. The rings were aligned after checking them with alignment rods, but I wasn't satisfied with the quality of the threading or how the cantilever design was set up. It also weighs more than the Seekins MXM, and doesn't have much material under the scope to use feeler gauges for aligning the reticle.

I run the similar separate rings on my bolt guns and have never had a single issue. Not need to lap these and hold zero perfectly. I tried this one for a 6.5 Creemore semi auto build, and it works perfectly. Yes. They are pricey, but you’ll also never have to replace them. Just make sure and follow Vortex’s specs and use a torque wrench for both the receiver and definitely on the rings.

Great mount, great quality but needs to be cleaned better before leaving manufacturer

Great AR 15 Scope Mount, good quality, only downside is that for some reason when arrived it had some type of gritty sand like material around the whole mount and inside the screw holes that had to be blown out and cleaned with air.

Just got this 30mm 20 moa cantilever scope mount for my Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 3-15x. My friend who has been shooting long range for 14 years has multiple Vortex scopes and rings by Vortex, Larue and US Optics. He had to lap all of them including his older vortex rings since they were the entry level ones. I spent the extra money the precision mount on the recommendation of the rep at Vortex. I am glad I did because my friends alignment tools showed there is nothing to correct for on this mount. He was checking about 10 times to make sure and was sold on the precision rings. The fine tips of the alignment bars were perfectly touching tips(insert joke here). The extra money will save you time mounting your scope and not risk messing up the lapping process. Once we got the cantilever and scope mounted the scope aligned perfectly using the wheeler reticle kit and the plumb bob flashlight method. Vortex makes very high-quality stuff.

Excellent quality AR15 scope mount. I got the one with 20 moa cant for longer range if needed. Mounted perfectly with no troubles. No lapping needed. Mounted it up to a 6.5 Creedmoor by Windham Weaponry witha Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 scope in it. It did what I needed it to do and has been solid since. It is expensive compared to some others, but I got it for the cant and Brand markings. I will buy again when needed.

This is a solid piece of metal, has some weight to it so I know it hold up and keep my new PST Gen 11 solidly mounted. Also, I got a great price on both mount and scope.

The precision mount is so quality because I didn’t have to lapp it. Less time lapping, the better. I mounted my scope and torqued everything down to spec in no time. Vortex products are all very fantastic.
