As a handgun hunter, I have pursued various species worldwide. My shots typically range between 200 and 300 yards, using my 300 WM TC and 300 WSM HS Precision pistols. Finding the right optics is always a challenge, and I've tried several different brands. Among them, the Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x32 handgun scope stands out as the best handgun optic I've used. It offers unparalleled clarity and EER, and its 8x magnification is the most practical option for a pistol. The scope could be even better if it featured a ballistic plex and/or a dial turret. Nonetheless, this is the best handgun optic I've had the pleasure of using.

I own (2) of these scopes, both silver and have had no problems with them at all. One is mounted on a S&W Performance Center .500 S&W magnum and the other is on a Ruger Super Blackhawk hunter in .41 Remington magnum. I'm going to purchase a third one to be placed on a Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 Casull. The leupold vx-3 2.5-8x32mm handgun scope is a top-quality optic with exceptional performance. It fits perfectly and looks great on my super Redhawk with a 7.5 inch barrel, mounted using the Weigand scope mount for the 44 mag super Redhawk. At just under 10 inches in length, this scope is a great choice for a revolver or handgun to be used in the woods. The variable magnification allows for a changing field of view, ranging from 2.5X to 8X. The large diameter lenses make it easy to quickly acquire a sight picture. The 24 K gold ring and medallion add a touch of elegance to the scope. The Matt Black version has a diamond ion bond coating that resists scratches. While this scope may be large for extremely short revolvers and handguns, Leupold also offers shorter options. This scope's added weight helps reduce muzzle flip on my 44 magnum. It is worth every penny, as it truly is an awesome and professional optic.

The Leupold VX-3 Handgun 25-8x32 Duplex Riflescope is the best handgun scope I have ever used. The glass is exceptionally clear and the zoom capabilities are more than sufficient for most handgun calibers in a hunting setting. However, this scope is perfect with the aid of a table or a rest and a caliber that can reach longer distances. Leupold's "gold ring" scopes come with a higher price tag, but in my opinion, they are well worth the investment. I have this scope mounted on my S&W 460 XVR 10.5," and I am delighted with its performance. I am considering purchasing another one for my 44mag - it will not be too much scope for the gun. Overall, I highly recommend the Leupold VX-3 Handgun 25-8x32 Duplex Riflescope for anyone in need of a top-quality handgun scope.

I had a hard time deciding from a 4x versus a 2x pistol scope. I mounted the 2x Leupold scope to a 44 magnum Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter. The scope is clear and crisp; I get a much better FOV than I would have with a 4X scope. So far, with about 300 rounds of shooting, I've had no problems with the scope, and along with the Ruger pistol, I have a deadly accurate combo out to 100 yards. My opinion is this Leupold scope is one of the best pistol scopes out there.

Put this scope on an S&W .460 Magnum. Put about 90 rounds through the setup so far with no problems. Zoom works well; light gathering is superb. They sighted in at 25 feet first, then adjusted at 100 yards. No difficulty with elevation or horizontal knobs. Used Burris Signature zee rings. The S&W had built-in Picatinny rail, so no bases. Excellent quality handgun scope.

I mounted this scope on my Remington XP-100, which I use for IHMSA Big Bore Silhouette; the scope has been on this handgun for about four years and has performed flawlessly. The caliber is 7 BR Rem. No problem is taking out 150-meter turkeys and 200-meter rams. Adjustments always the same, no drift. Nice, bright sight picture. Absolute minimum parallax. To squeeze every bit of accracy out of the gun I also mounted an anti-cant device (a bubble level), on this scope. This is one rock-solid scope.

Dynamic scope for a Ruger 44 mag revolver. After sighting at 50 yards with excellent results, I moved to 100 yards and was highly pleased with the result. A deer doesn't stand a chance at that distance. Very clear scope as to be expected from a Leupold. Don't waste your hard-earned money on any other content if fitted to a large Cal. revolver. The crosshairs don't move! The scope is solid and never needed to be re-tightened once mounted. If wondering, sighted with hunting round, Remington 275 grain H/P. Have fun shooting with this scope!

I bought this scope for a Contender barrel used for varmint hunting. The finish and optics surpass others I have used. This scope is exceptionally lightweight owing to the compact size. While sighting-in, the adjustments were precise, allowing for quick zero. The eye relief is good for my reach (sleeve length = 34"). I find the 4x scope is suitable for steadied shooting which is what I am doing. I prefer and use a 2x scope on other Contender barrels for other tasks where I don't necessarily use a rest. Note that a good quality set of rings is required to ensure a firm grip on the scope because of the sharp recoil of a pistol compared to the recoil of an average rifle. I noticed no notable shortcomings with this scope.

First of all, I love Leupold scopes, and there are many good reasons. This handgun scope was on my "get this soon" list for quite a while. It's super accurate on my 6" SW686. I was able to hit a golf ball from a rest at 50 yards after about 100 shots zeroing and getting the feel of it. Use lower power and keep both eyes open. If you are looking for a hunting/target scope, this is a great choice.

I used it to hunt in South Africa taking 2 cape buffalo, crocodile, southern roan, gemsbok, red duiker and a giraffe.It worked well to acquire the target to get the first shots. However, my follow up shot on the cape buffalo had to be point and shoot method as I could not reacquire the target quickly. Fortunately, the first shot was fatal. The first shot was at 88 yards, and the point and shoot second shot broke his right rear leg. I would not want to have to shoot a charging buffalo at close range. The eye relief is an issue for this hunter. I shot many times at the range before I left, but we all know it's just not the same condition. The scope stood up very well to the battering it took from Buffalo Bore 300 grain mono metal bullets. The recoil was significant but manageable.
