As a long-time user of micro red dot optics on pistols, I recently got my hands on the Vortex Defender XL. This red dot sight is the largest in the Defender line, featuring a generous window size perfect for target and competition shooting. I appreciated its durable CNC machined 7075 aluminum housing, motion-activated illumination, and easy-to-use pop-up battery tray. The 5 MOA dot was crisp and clear, with no noticeable distortion. Despite a few minor adjustments needed for holster compatibility, the Defender XL proved to be a robust and reliable optic, ideal for competition use.
