Functions as expected and more. One of my barrel nuts was on way to tight from the factory. I couldn't budge it and needed to use a 36" cheater bar. The ar 15 vise block held with no damage to it or the reciever. Very impressed.

I purchased this AR vice block explicitly set to be able to hold upper receivers vertically for lapping and horizontally for bedding. In this regard it does the job extremely well! When it comes to torque applications I still prefer a reaction rod but this block could get the job done. It does state in the instructions that you cannot crush your upper reciever but as I learned with a billet upper, you can apply enough force to squeeze the reciever together. As long as you are carefully to avoid this situation the block should last you a life time!

This ar15 vise block made barrel installation a breeze. Also worked well for putting on the free float hand guard as well as the flash hider. Holds upper securely and has insert to keep from crushing it. It has a rod for lining up the holes for the gas rail.

This vise clamp works pretty well with a standard a2/m4 upper. It won't fit a pistol caliber dedicated upper because of the extended shell deflector. I bought a second one and modified it with a Dremel to hold a pistol caliber upper. It did the job with no significant issue. One thing to note, it is assumed that you don't have the dust cover on the upper when you use the insert. Or rather, when you try and remove the insert, it won't open the door. I had to "mortar" the upper against my leg to pop the cover open. No big deal. But keep this in mind if you have an assembled upper.

Well built, I have used it on 4 different builds so far and it has worked flawlessly. I have used it on A1, A2, and flat top uppers and they all fit perfectly the gas tube alignment rod works perfect it holds your upper receivers tight without leaving marks. Buy it. You wont go wrong.

Good ar upper vise block for a good price. An action block is essentially required equipment for any AR build in which you'll be installing the barrel yourself, and this did the trick nicely while protecting the finish. The gas tube alignment tool is handy if you're installing a handguard that requires the gas tube to be routed through the barrel nut.

this ar 15 vise block works as described easy and with absolutely no marring of your upper, i have used this clamping tool on 8 different manufactured upper receivers and has so far worked as it should

Originally purchased to work on an existing upper that I have, this vise block worked perfectly. If you're buying this to work on a mil-spec upper, this should fix you up. If you need it to disassemble and existing mil-spec upper, you COULD have issues. For example, if the original barrel nut is extremely seized to the upper, you run the risk of cracking your upper with the excessive torque you'll need to use to get the nut off. The Geissele Reaction Rod or Super Reaction Rod is a better tool for that task. But this block is more than adequate for the amount of torque required to secure a new barrel nut. No problemo! Please realize that if you are assembling or disassembling a non-mil-spec upper (billet), this tool is NOT GOING TO WORK. It's molded to fit a standard upper profile. Billet uppers often have a stylized appearance that does not follow the milspec profile. This clamshell vise block will likely not close adequately around your upper, and could place excessive stress to single areas. I feel like this is an obvious point, as a different shape requires a different mold. Also, because this is plastic, it will wear each time you use it. A hobbyist will probably get a lifetime of minor use from this tool. A serious builder should be looking at the Geissele Reaction Rod. I've contacted several manufacturers of billet uppers about the shape issue, and they all recommend the Geissele tool, which is 3 - 4 times the price of this one.

My AR builds were what I could afford when I started out. As most of you know, it's never finished. Always something to upgrade. Carbine hand guards especially. And in order to install floating hand guards, lo profile gas blocks, and barrel nuts, you should have one of these. This little gadget saves you time and keeps your upper from scratching. Most of my tools were bought when they were in sale, knowing I would eventually need them. Money is well spent if you only use it once. It's less than paying someone else to do your work for you. It's your weapon, so take care of it.

After I purchased a bare-bones AR15, I started ordering parts to customize it and make it more user-friendly. I was a little intimidated after reading stories of guys ruining/breaking expensive rifles doing simple parts replacement. The first thing I noticed was how easy it is to work on when you have the right tools and that I didn't cause any damage or leave marks as I would have if using general-purpose garage hand tools. Wheeler has done an excellent job of making tools inexpensive and durable.

This is an excellent ar upper vise block, and it's very easy to use. I had a barrel that just would not budge so I ordered this product. It only took a couple of minutes to get it clamped in the vice, and the barrel nut was no problem to break loose. I would definitely recommend this to anyone working on ARs. Not sure how I ever got by without one of these.
