Tool-Link - 1911 Guide Rod Spring Removal Tool & Compressor
While a One-Piece guide rod is a great addition to any 1911 style pistol - easy to install & remove - it turns annoying when changing a heavy recoil spring, replacing a buffer, or disassembling the guide rod for cleaning. The job requires three hands - one to hold the rod, a second to hold the recoil spring plug, and a third place or remove the locking pin. With the RSC, this annoying chore is now simple and easy.

Mounting Solutions Plus Recoil Compressor for 1911
This 1911 guide rod tool works great for separating the guide rod and recoil spring for cleaning. Just make sure you are on a no skid surface so it doesn't slide out of your control. Many 1911s come with a barrel bushing tool, but if yours has a full length guide rod, it should come with one of these tools. They are very helpful for maintaining and cleaning your firearm.
Simple but effective
Open the package and say, "Huh?" It's just a thick metal disk with two holes in it, but it works like a charm as a 1911 recoil spring tool. The compressor gives me enough pressing surface to EASILY compress recoil springs as heavy as 22 pounds...and I've got long thin fingers made for fly tying. For the price, it's a good idea to buy two of these tools since they are easily lost or "borrowed" by your friends.
