Economical yet robust red dot
GPT I was searching for a 2MOA red dot for my CZ Scorpion EVO carbine, having previously used a Bushnell TRS25 (3MOA). While the TRS25 was decent, I aimed to improve accuracy up to 150 yards. Options like Aimpoint or EOTech seemed excessive for a 9mm training carbine used for PCC training and potential local competitions, so I chose this sight based on positive reviews. Initially, I was worried about parallax issues but decided to try it out. Zeroing the sight was straightforward—it only took two 3-shot groups at 25 yards and a few more to refine the windage at 50 and 100 yards. The clicks are precise, comparable to the EOTechs on my AR15, unlike the TRS25. After about 150 rounds, the zero remained stable. The red dot is crisp, as long as I adjust the brightness for the ambient light. My groups improved significantly, now around 3.5 inches at 100 yards from the previous 6-7 inches. The parallax issue wasn't noticeable between 3 and 7 yards. The only downside is the 2 NV settings; the second is too bright for low lighting. Overall, this sight is excellent for under $150. Some say it's heavy, but that doesn't bother me. The battery life is satisfactory; I keep it on the lowest setting. Note: It comes with an absolute cowitness mount. Since I use it on the CZ Scorpion, I don't need the mount due to the low bore axis, similar to an AK. If you're looking to use it on an AR15 and want a lower 1/3 cowitness, you might need to check with OPP for a mount. As always, OPP is fantastic with fast shipping and great discounts.
Inexpensive optic for my ras47
I've found that firing in bump fire mode can be tough on an optic, and it's true that the more you invest in an optic, the less likely it is to lose its zero. This is where the phrase "you get what you pay for" really shows, especially with rifle scopes. I'm glad to say the Sightmark Wolverine exceeded my expectations. The dot intensity buttons are responsive, allowing me to adjust to a faint dot, which is my preference when sighting in my rifle. When I got my AK, I wanted to outfit it with an affordable 1 power Red Dot just for fun. The Century Arms RAS47, with its ComBloc-pattern side mount, was perfect for my Midwest Industries QD 1913 rail system. The Wolverine mounted seamlessly to the rail, and after a few tweaks, it was secure. Its size and shape suit the AK-47 style well. Unlike my SCAR, the epitome of modern battle rifles, the RAS47 has a classic "Old School" vibe, modernized with MagPul furniture. Paired with the Sightmark Wolverine, it's a perfect match. The 1X28 is ideal for my needs, as I use the weapon mainly within 50M. My RAS has the FosTech Bumpski installed, which can be harsh on optics in full-out mode. The AK's recoil is manageable over time, but switching to my SIG 516 or SCAR 16S, both piston rifles, the difference is stark. Yet, if this optic can survive an AK and maintain zero after 350 rounds, it'll definitely handle an AR-15/M-4 platform. After using about 10 30-round magazines in bump fire mode, the Wolverine still held zero. Switching to semi-auto, I managed 1-inch groups. My only minor complaint is its weight; it's a bit heavy. I'd highly recommend the Wolverine for anyone seeking a CQB style training optic. The fixed 1X power facilitates two-eyes-open shooting, and target acquisition was quick and effortless. It seems well-built and robust. For the price, you won't regret this purchase.
Great Value optic!
GPT I can't always splurge on those "High Dollar" optics from Optics Planet, and honestly, I probably don't need them. This budget-friendly optic is an excellent alternative. What I get from this not-so-little optic is impressive. It's on the heavier side, but this little gem is durable. The glass is clear, and the dot is crisp. I'm so pleased with it that I just ordered the Sightmark magnifier to complement it. If you're looking for a great optic without breaking the bank, check out the FSR.
