Easy to see and easy to zero

I bought this reflex sight for my AK, and I prefer it over the Sightmark red dot on my AR. It's clearer and easier to zero in with a boresight at 25 yards. Both windage and elevation adjustments are straightforward and have remained accurate. The sight is small, unobtrusive, and lightweight. It has just two easily accessible and responsive buttons on each side; both serve as power buttons, with one to increase and the other to decrease the dot's brightness. Despite my aging eyes, I managed to hit a golf ball at 100 yards with my AK after three shots. I'm now seriously considering replacing the Sightmark red dot on my AR with another one of these reflex sights.

I've found that this sight holds zero perfectly on my pistol. Many people underestimate the durability needed for pistol sights since the slide's rapid back-and-forth movement subjects them to more wear than if they were mounted on shotguns or rifles. I have astigmatism, which is common, so the dot might not appear as a perfect circle. Before you worry, check it with your phone camera; if it looks circular there, that's how it appears to those without astigmatism. I adjust the brightness just enough for effective aiming. The illumination can go quite high, even on sunny days. I liked this model so much that I bought two. However, a word of caution about maintenance: always use a clean microfiber cloth or lens cleaner. I once used my shirt to wipe off the residue from cheap ammo, which led to minor scratches. A bit of CLP or lube oil on the glass also facilitates cleaning. To avoid scratches, either use high-quality ammo or invest in a durable lens cleaning kit—spending a little can save a lot. Don’t assume that expensive sights are scratch-proof. I learned the hard way to take care of my gear properly. The lens cleaner I use is from Leupold, and clearly, using a shirt for cleaning optics is not recommended.

I now own two of these units, one mounted on my Gen 5 G17 MOS and another on my Extar EP9, where it fits perfectly. These devices are durable, bright, and high-quality. The buttons are tactile and respond well; a brief tap on the up arrow turns it on, with the up arrow on the left and down arrow on the right. To turn it off, I hold both buttons for five seconds. Zeroing was straightforward for both, taking about 10-12 rounds to get accurate at 12 yards. Although the zeroing dials don't click audibly, they feel positive if I focus on their position while adjusting. The battery lasts 20,000 hours and has a 12-hour auto shut-off, though it lacks a shake-awake or MOTAC feature. I just need to remember to tap the up arrow at the start of the day and every 12 hours. It also features a protective shroud on top and offers excellent brightness, even in daylight, though there's a slight glare when the sun is directly behind me. Overall, for $200, it's a fantastic value and I definitely recommend it.
