The PRI military big latch meets my personal preference among the many oversize fasteners available for the AR. Compared to other styles and brands (which I also have), this one I like best only because it remains rigid and does not wiggle or make side to side movement when pulled. The reason why other big latches tend to have a downward play when activated is because of the pattern of the lach itself with an upward hump. The PRI's latch rear portion locks in solidly with the charging handle when operated, and the stop pin takes the pressure, not the pivot pin, which is the most fragile part of the assembly. PRI would have earned my 5-star if they mated this part to a matching steel handle like the ones made by DPMS. The only thing I wanted to add as an extra touch for this latch is a fine serration. That would have completed the package. Note: A stopper (solid or roll pin) will be required to be installed to the DPMS steel charging handle to limit the rearward travel of the latch, with just enough movement for the latch hook to clear the upper receiver's locking shoulder.
