Customer Ratings & Reviews
LET ME SAVE YOU MONTHS OF RESEARCH
I conducted extensive research before making this investment. I evaluated factors such as the required magnification for shooting at distances of 600-800 yards, turret type and increments, reticle type and sub-tensions, first focal plane vs second focal plane reticle, field of view, and the manufacturer's reputation. This optic is the epitome of a complete package. With its MOAR reticle and MOA turrets, ranging and adjusting elevation are made easier. I opted for a second focal plane reticle as, although a first focal plane reticle maintains constant sub-tensions, it would be too large at maximum magnification. Considering that the scope would be used at maximum magnification at the ranges it was designed for, I chose the second focal plane reticle. Lastly, Nightforce has a fantastic reputation and warranty, and I am confident that they will stand behind their product if any long-term issues arise. In conclusion, if you spend less, you'll get less, but if you spend more, you may get more. Despite being prepared to spend over $3000 for the scope for my rifle, I still chose this one.
You get what you pay for.
The Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 is a premium rifle scope, and you get what you pay for. The scope is robustly constructed and provides exceptional clarity. The illumination is perfectly calibrated for low-light conditions right out of the box. The only drawbacks are minor. Adjusting the illumination brightness is not the most intuitive process, but it's not a big issue since the factory setting works well. I don't need to use the illumination in bright light conditions. The only feature I would have liked to see differently is that it is a second focal plane scope, whereas I prefer first focal plane scopes. However, those can come with a higher price tag.
This is what top quality looks like
I embarked on my journey of long-range target shooting a few years ago, starting with an out-of-the-box Remington 700 and a budget-friendly scope. After honing my skills and becoming confident out to 600 yards with my entry-level setup, I felt it was time for some upgrades. However, high-quality glass was beyond my budget at the time. I waited patiently, saving my funds, and finally made the investment in the Nightforce scope, along with upgrading other parts on my Remington 700. On my first trip to the range with the new setup, I was able to sight it in with just three shots. After a few warm-up shots, I was amazed to see that I was able to achieve a .51" group from a bench rest/bipod with a sandbag at 100 yards. The clarity of the scope was incredible, and I no longer needed a spotting scope. The eye relief was also exceptional, especially given the level of zoom, which was a relief given the recoil from my 308. I then tested the turrets by tracking them to the bottom left of the target, upper right, and back to zero. I set the zero stop and repeated the process, tracking to the top left, top right, and back to zero. The turrets were incredibly precise and it was reassuring to know that if I ever needed to make adjustments, I could easily return to zero. I am thoroughly impressed with my Nightforce scope and highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their long-range shooting setup.
Best Optic for the money
I purchased the Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56mm Scope for long-range shooting, and it has exceeded my expectations. The ample elevation adjustment is perfect for shots beyond 1000 yards. The clarity of the image is exceptional, and the illuminated reticle is incredibly sharp. Even in non-illuminated mode, the reticle remains clear and precise. The various reticle configurations available are a welcome addition and should easily accommodate any shooter's preferences. The scope is built to withstand the rigors of field use while maintaining its accuracy, making it a highly durable option. I highly recommend this scope for anyone in the market for a reliable and high-performing optic. Pros: Crystal clear image, rugged construction, user-friendly features. Cons: None that I have encountered.

The Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56mm is truly a remarkable piece of equipment. I mounted it on my RPR and I can say that it was well worth the investment. The MOA reticle makes adjusting the scope with the .25 MOA knobs a breeze, and zeroing the scope was a breeze as well, even for someone like me who was shooting with precision optics for the first time. The lifetime warranty offered by Nightforce is a testament to their confidence in the quality of their product. If you take shooting seriously, I highly recommend this scope. The magnification is top-notch and provides crystal clear views of your target.

5 stars
Truly Rugged, Reliable, Repeatable. Ever watch a baggage handler THROW your rifle case on a plane. I have. Ever turn a turret and get NO POI movement downrange, or have it JUMP? I have. Ever turn your turret "up" then "back" and have a different POI? I have. That's why I only cry once... and buy Nightforce. There is a reason when you tour the SEAL MUSEUM you see so many N/F on the displayed rifles.
No question -- the best scope I have ever owned or used!
Nightforc did not compromise on any aspect of this scope. The glass clarity, the adjustment knobs, and the overall fit-&-finish are superlative. I have the scope mounted on a bolt action rifle (chambered in 6.5 CM), and use it for shooting steel targets out to 1,100 yards.
Sweet
What can you say-it's a Nightforce? The glass is good; the turrets are fantastic with a very positive click; zero stop is great for quick target acquisition. But my favorite thing about the scope is the reticle; the lines are so fine that you can be extremely precise. Also have to mention the service with night force is awesome, I accidentally broke my zero stop -Totally my fault, and they fixed it for free! FYI-this thing is built like a tank; it's heavy! More for target shooting, not so much for carrying around on long days of hunting!
Excellent - EXCELLENT - scope
I have 2 of these scopes. I mounted the first on my Savage LRP .243 and liked it so well that I ordered a second one for my uglier-than-sin highly accurate post-64 Model 70 Win. in the (obsolete) .225 Winchester cartridge. (I have the 2nd scope and am waiting for the mounts to arrive . . . with bated breath.) I can't compare the quality of the glass to higher-priced scopes, but what I can say is that it's the best glass I've ever owned or even seen (I have a couple of Leupolds, a couple of Redfields and several Nikons plus a mish-mash of other scopes and sighting systems). The scope is heavy, but for my needs, that's not a vice but a virtue: my passion is long-range ground-squirrel shooting. I shoot off a bench with a Harris bipod, and the heavier my rig, the better. (The ground squirrels I shoot are roughly 5-7 inches from the base of the tale to top of the head.) I like the NXS's "zero-stop" feature a lot, and though I haven't used the illuminated reticle, I can well imagine circumstances where I would. Plus, my first scope tracks perfectly (which is why I bought the second one . . . to me, tracking is all-important). This is not the kind of scope you want to lug around on a light-weight hunting rifle when "hunting" requires walking (and quickly shouldering a weapon), or when you need to climb a steep mountain and want to minimize weight at all costs. If either is your goal, get a lighter scope. But if your shooting requirements do not require great mobility, then this is a terrific scope.
Love this scope!
I bought this NSX for shooting long range. It was my first high-end optic purchase. I have Leopold VX3I and Vortex Viper PST scopes. This thing just blows them away. The image is vivid, clear, and bright, even at max magnification. The turrets have distinct detents and track perfectly. The zero stop is a pinpoint positive stop at zero. It looks very durable and well made. This is an awesome scope. My only regret is I can't afford to put one on all my rifles.
