This is an excellent scope. At first, I was disappointed that the side focus wheel was not labeled with yardage markings, but I soon realized that these markings are often inaccurate and not essential for my hunting needs in the Northeast. Holding the scope and turning the turrets to experience the clarity of the glass at every magnification was like driving an Audi RS6 - simply amazing. However, it's worth noting that these scopes are large and hefty, so you'll need sturdy rings to keep them in place. I initially used Leupold standard rings, but the scope still shifted despite being tightened to the recommended torque. I have since switched to NightForce rings and will update on their performance. The R2 reticle is less cluttered than other options and very thin, so it's ideal for tight groups, but you'll need illumination in low light conditions. The reticle allows for accurate shooting. The only downsides I've experienced so far are the difficulty in changing the brightness on the illumination and the tendency to forget to turn it off, leading to a quickly depleted 2032 battery. The rubber cover also becomes loose when the sunshade is not installed on the objective.

This is my first experience using a NightForce scope, having previously used Leupold Mark II/Mark AR scopes. I was thoroughly impressed with the clear and high-quality optics. The construction of the scope is extremely solid. I feel that most reviews don't fully capture the excellence of NightForce. I chose the MIL-R reticle with .01 Mil clicks and I'm glad I did. It's very user-friendly, and the optics are crystal clear. Although I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet, the illuminated reticle seems to be of high quality and effective in low light conditions. The only minor criticisms I have are the high cost and the lens covers, which can't be used with traditional flip-up covers. These issues, along with the weight, are well-known. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing.

I recently mounted my NF 3.5-15x50 NXS scope, equipped with the MOAR reticle, on my Weatherby Tactical 308 bolt action rifle and took it out for its first shooting session in Utah. I used the opportunity to break in both the rifle and the scope. The field of view was outstanding, and after zeroing the rifle at 100 yards and achieving some great groups, I started shooting at progressively longer distances. I had no problem hitting the 700 yard target, and adjusting the scope was a breeze once I figured out my dope. Feeling confident, I decided to aim for the 1300 yard target. I used the full 50 MOA on the turret and then held another 2 MOA on the reticle, which was simple to do. After firing a few rounds and accounting for range and wind, I hit the target at a remarkable 1300 yards! The scope is amazing, and I already have another NSX scope with the MOAR reticle on my LMT 308, which I love just as much.

It's no secret that this scope comes with a hefty price tag. I used to think that you had to be a seasoned sniper like Chris Kyle or have a lot of money to justify purchasing a NightForce scope. But I now know that its reputation is well-deserved. As someone who's never spent more than $500 on a scope, this was a big investment for me. My goal was to find a scope that would allow me to hunt at long distances, up to 1000 yards. After extensive research, I decided on this scope. I mounted it on my Tikka T3 CTR in .308, which is already a highly accurate rifle, using Vortex Precision Rings. When I finally got to shoot my new setup at the indoor 100 yard range, I was blown away by the glass. It was incredibly bright and vivid even at 15x magnification. After breaking in my rifle's barrel, I was able to achieve .28 MOA on one of my groups, which is insane. The rifle is amazing, but the scope took it to another level. The dials are precise and easy to use, and after zeroing in, I was able to easily return to the zero stop. The scope is built like a tank, solid and durable. I've seen a video of a NightForce representative throwing a dialed-in scope as far as he could, and then re-mounting it and hitting zero on the mark. That's how confident they are in their product. When you hold one, you can feel the quality. I'm so glad I made this purchase. I know that I'll have this scope for decades, and I think that's the right way to look at it. Instead of buying several budget scopes, invest in one top-notch scope and enjoy it for years to come.

In essence, the quality of your equipment determines your capabilities. I recently built a rifle for both work and hunting, using a Remington 700 as the base. My previous weapon was equipped with a 5.5 x 22 Nightforce, which is why I chose the 3.5 x 15 for my new rifle as it aligned better with my goals. With this setup, I was able to zero in at 100 yards with just three shots and maintain quarter-minute grouping. The Nightforce made it effortless for me to gather my data and zero the turrets, thanks to its positive lock feature. I recently returned from a deer hunting trip in north central Nevada, where the Nightforce made it easy for me to dial in my shot and successfully take down my target. I consider Nightforce to be on par with Schmidt and Bender, but at a more affordable price. In my opinion, Nightforce offers the best value for money when it comes to scopes, and if you purchase from Optics World, you can receive your scope in just a week, compared to the typical 20-26 week wait time with Nightforce Optics. If you're in the market for a great scope, Nightforce is the way to go.

I have many other scopes (over 47) and many hight dollars. But this Night Force is the best; I put it on a 22-250 for hunting coyotes, prairie dogs, and other games.Many shots are over 400 yards with the finest and east cross-hairs to see or use, and the adjustments are right on. I have ordered more Night Force scopes for some of my other rifles.

I own Zeiss, Swarovski & Leica optics. This Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50 is very impressive optically. Seems robust and well made. I was suspect of the factory setting on the illumination, but that concern appears unfounded. In pitch dark, there is no illumination washout; and the ambient light vs. illumination brightness is proportional. The rotation of the entire ocular bell makes a rear Butler Creek scope cover a challenge. Impressive enough that I'd buy another Nightforce in the future.

Well, If I want my new Savage in 300WSM to be a 1000 yard gun, I knew I had to buy a Nightforce scope. But, wow, the brightness and clarity are incredible. Also, I love the high-speed adjustments and the Zero-stop function. I have the discontinued NP-R1 reticle and I love it - it's great for range finding and looks clean when illuminated. It's really exciting to have such a great scope on my rifle. I got the lower powered 3.5-15 because I will use the rifle mostly for hunting, but I'll be ready for our annual 1000 yard shoot and the occasional 600 yard get together. Yes, the scope is heavy, but I like a heavier rig because it lowers recoil on the magnums. If you're looking to keep weight down, maybe you should consider the SHV line. The illuminated reticle works well in low-light conditions, though I haven't used the gun in those conditions yet. Lastly, I went all the way and mounted the Nightforce one piece 20MOA base as well as their four-screw rings. I want to use as much of that 110MOA as I can. Good yet bad: This scope is a tank! What a beast! But it isn't sexy like my 1" tube scopes. Well, now I know why they make 30mm tubes, because the light they transmit is so much more. I did the math: the area of the 30mm tube is almost 40% greater than the the 1" (25.4mm) tube (pi x rsquared). Before you die you have to have one of these :)

I wanted a decent scope for my heavily modified Armalite AR10 and researched scopes until my brain melted. I already have a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T but was looking for something different in the reticle and finally decided on the Velocity 1000. The Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50mm is a rugged scope, and the glass is crystal clear from edge to edge to the highest magnification. The turrets are crisp and precise, and I love the zero stop, set at 200 yards. After zeroing the scope and some serious concentration on my part, I was rewarded with a five-shot .334" group at 200 yards using military M118LR ammunition (175 grain Matchking over 44.3 grains of Reloder 15 @ 2640 fps out of my 21" Noveske barrel), 2011 headstamp. These were pulled and weighed from 5 random cartridges. The scope never waivered and the target was as clear at 200 yards as if it was right in front of the muzzle. The only drawback I could fault is the reticle brightness adjustment, which requires removing the focus adjustment turret to adjust the intensity. However, I found the factory setting almost perfect for most low-light shooting situations. Weight was not an issue for me as my rig weighs in at a hefty 16+ pounds with an empty 10 round magazine with the scope. If you're looking for a scope for your hunting rifle that is to be carried in the field a great distance, this is probably not the best scope for you but if you're a long range or tactical shooter, give this scope some serious attention and consideration. You will not be disappointed.

I hemmed and hawed over the purchase until my wife told me she was sick of me talking about it. Mounted it on a 20" bbl Savage Model 10 in.308 Win, bore-sighted, and maintained a three-inch group at 200 yards with non-match grade ammo. It is pricey, but it is a seriously good scope. I opted for the illuminated MOAR reticle. Be prepared to spend some money on some solid rings.

Just what you would expect from Nightforce. Reliable build quality, crystal clear glass, very positive turrets, and correct tracking/return to zero. The Zero stop is simple to set. The MOAR reticle is excellent for those who use their rifle for multiple purposes. It's thin enough for target shooting yet thick enough to use in low light with ease. By far, the best MOA based reticle I have used so far. I would recommend this scope to anyone with a $2,000 or less budget—definitely the best value for that price range.
