Slick and Smooth
Great product I used the Magpul usgi follower in the 5 round magazines with a bit of modification. I chopped 14.7 mm of the bottom and they still function perfectly.
I trust my life to these
I have updated all my magazines with these Magpul anti-tilt follower. They work great. After reading another review, I want to add these will not work with the newer magazine springs that are paired with, the newer tan followers. To use these followers in those magazines you need to change the magazine spring to the older spring.
Turn Old Mags New For a Few Dollars
I had 15 steel G.I. style A.R. mags sitting in my closet for years that I never used. They were extras I had accumulated during my Army years. They were tossed aside because they did not have self-leveling followers and old, weak springs (not a good thing when feeding the rifle your life depended on). After cleaning lots of powder and sand out of the mag bodies, I installed Magpul usgi follower and springs in each. That's about 5$ or less to turn a magazine that was shelved due to constant feeding issues into a new magazine. It's very cost-effective compared to buying the same quantity of new magazines. Be sure to inspect the magazine's feed lips, as metal magazines are more susceptible to them bending and causing issues. Use a can of spray paint and paint them to your liking, and you've got a lifetime's supply of mags that you can throw a new spring into when appropriate. I saw one reviewer comment that there was a fitment issue with the follower to the spring. I bought 15 of the followers and 15 springs and had no such problem. The magazine spring needs to bent slightly at its end to fit into the follower's spring hold, and you are good to go.
DO NOT REPLACE TAN FOLLOWERS
I have some newer issue Army mags with the tan follower. In them, the spring attachment point to the followers is different. The proprietary spring in these GI mags will cause the Magpul followers to tilt and snag HARD(needed screwdrivers to correct it)exactly like the old green followers used to. I tried all three followers from the pack in multiple NEW issued magazines with the tan followers, and the results were identicle. ONLY purchase for mags without the tan USGI follower
Best follower made for the AR15/M16
While these Magpul followers may be tricky to install in some magazines due to the placement of the little tabs on the bottom of the magazine that holds the floor plate in place because some manufacturers have them in slightly different locations, they are drop-in fit for Colt brand mags but can be fitted to work with all-metal magazines with some effort. But the followers are the best available and function better than both the old style black and green followers. If you own any metal mags that do not have Magpul followers, these are one of the best and most cost-efficient upgrades that enhance performance that you can buy.
