The Magpul MOE SL Handguard is a versatile and reliable accessory for your AR15/M4 build. Made from reinforced polymer, it comes with an aluminum heat shield for added protection. I've used several of these handguards in different colors for various builds and have found them to be easy to install, provided you choose the correct length for your gas system and acquire the delta ring and handguard cap if you're new to this setup. The M-LOK slots allow for easy attachment of accessories, but be aware that tightening them may cause slight deformation of the plastic, making accessory removal slightly more difficult. Despite this, these handguards provide a sleek and modern look to your firearm.

I have used the Magpul handguards on a couple of my AR's. Comfort and light weight were the key for me as both are Hunting rigs. I also need the ability to add things like a light or a bipod easily as the type of hunt changed. This met the need with style and comfort. Since it is slightly "Slimmer" than the round guards, it was more comfortable in the hand without the bulk. Popped right onto a DPMS LR308 Upper and another AR15 upper I have.

A lightweight, rattle free, tight fitting AR 15 handguard. Feels good in my hand with no cold metal feel on frosty days. After you learn the technique, it snaps together fairly easy. I took it apart, then reassembled it a second time to test that, and the worse part was holding the lock ring against its spring. There is a fly in the soup, however. I bought it to work with an AA piston kit. A round handguard cap with a clearance cut is required-- and impossible to find. I made my own from a standard DPMS cap. I clamped the cap rim side up on a piece of scrap oak to my drill press, centered on the gas tube hole. I then ran a 7/16th end mill through until wood shavings showed it was finished. A small mill file took care of the burrs. A good sharp drill may also work. Hope others can use this.

Magpul makes great AR Accessirues! I installed a short Carbine set on a lightweight 16" CAR-15 for a female customer and afterward ordered one for my Mid-length model. These are fully heat-shielded, M-LOK rail and accessory ready on bottom and sides, very thin (thinner than the delta ring), and I like the way they protect the gas block/sight, plus give you a few more inches to put your hands on. Very firm and tight. Getting it on is a challenge but read the instructions. If you need the front sling swivel on the gas block, get out the dremel tool though. Side mounting the sling is a better choice. Flip-down front sights will need some minor cutting to the top, but there is plenty of material to maintain strength. This only works on barrels that have standard mil-spec handguard hardware. 16" barrels can be either Carbine (shortest), or mid-length gas tubes. Long model for standard full size M16/AR15s with 20" barrels. This magpul sl mid length handguard will work with pistol caliber ARs if there is a delta ring, and a handguard mounting plate just behind the gas block.

I wanted a AR15 handguard capable of having Picatinny rails mounted on it, which the stock Sport II handguard does not allow without very specialized mounting systems. Yes, you have to remove the forward sling loop (I punched the retaining pin out with an old drill bit) but other than that, it was easy to install the Magpul handguard. I set the stock down on the table, muzzle pointed at the ceiling, pulled the D-ring down with one hand then attached the top and bottom halves per the well-diagramed instructions. I did not have to twist the pieces as shown in the instructions - they both went into the areas they were designed to with just a little bit of wiggling and jockeying into position. The Magpul guard has just a small bit of play but not much, barely noticeable - a lot less than the original. It has a nice feel to it and is very secure. I attached a Magpul Mlok QD mount and then attached a Magpul QD sling loop to the most forward slot in the bottom plane of the handguard. The sling loop sits directly below where the old one would have hung down. Overall very glad I bought this handguard.

On the magpul sl handguard mid length require the removal of the original sling swivel. No big deal unless you want to keep it. Buy the Magpul M-lok sling mounts. These are great. The carbine model make a huge improvement.

I think these are excellent AR handguards. Not as chunky feeling as the previous design. They feel great in the hand and in my opinion they look terrific. They are more difficult to install than the old ones; a delta ring tool will be your best friend for installing these, especially when you install the lower half as it isa very tight fit. As others have stated, these are not designed for triangular handguard caps, they will only work with round caps. Also, if you have a standard front sight post with sling swivel, you will need to punch out the sling swivel or modify the handguard because it will not fit otherwise.

I love the Magpul SL mid-length handguard. They feel great in your hand and are still very useful underuse. I use the Magpul M-LOK Hand Stop Kit with the MOE SL handguards on all my carbines Android I couldn't be more pleased.

This moe SL mid-length handguard is a perfect fit for my S&W M&P II. It is easy to install and has a slim profile. It covers everything that I don't want to be seen and can grip the rifle better.

Bought the Magpul mid length SL handguard and installed it in an AR Stoner barrel with the A2 front sight post. It was VERY hard to put on, but worth it. LOL, I don't think I'll be able to take it back off. It looks good, though, and i think it will last the lifetime of the rifle.

I installed this Magpul SL handguard on an 18" custom barrel with a 1:8 twist chambered in 6mm AR, aka 6mm Grendel, aka 6mm Predator, aka 243 LBC. The upper is a midlength piston-driven system from Adams Arms. I had read some of the posts with a 1-star rating, and they all complain about the same thing: Either the handguard cap on their rifle was a triangular one, or they had a front swing swivel attached to the front sight base. In other words, they didn't fully read the information before purchasing. The top part of the handguard went on the upper without any issues. The bottom portion has a heat shield to protect the hand of the shooter, and it fits snug on the upper. It is a great finish with not play form the handguard. If you have a piston-driven system, this is the handguard you want. It was designed with pistons in mind, and it has enough clearance behind the gas block to accommodate such systems. In my opinion, Magpul has always created great products, and this handguard is no exception. I highly recommend it.

Excellent replacement for moe handguard. The slim profile is quite nice. Longer than MOE and covers area where sling ring/bayonet lug is/would be. I find the thin line more comfortable to hold, and m-lok slots are plentiful. The only drawback is if replacing an moe handguard is the need for around handguard retainer cap. This requires removing the triangular cap and reinstalling the gas block (a2 sight if present) and round retainer cap. I pulled the a2 sight and replaced it with a high-rise Picatinny gas block. I love the new setup.
