hat More Do You Need
Magpul moe rail section attaches to a Magpul MOE handguard pretty much anywhere you want one. Available in different lengths, they are perfect for adding an optical sight, a laser sight, a flashlight, or a two-point sling mount. All that you need in adaptability, functionality, and lightweight at a fraction of the cost.
Economical and sturdy
I have a smaller barrel on my rifle, and no rail systems would work correctly. I decided to order a rail section, drill holes, and mount the foregrip that way. This product is a durable plastic (I thought it was metal), but man, does it look and feel good. Instead of paying 40-50 dollars for a whole system, you can order these as you need them and just attach to the stock.
Put it on a Weatherby PA-459 shotgun forend. Great rail, and good for unorthodox applications.
I bought this to mount onto the underside of the forend of my Weatherby PA-459 12 gauge so I could use a vertical grip - mine came with no forend rail. Like all of Magpul's products, the plastic used to make this rail, while very slightly flexible (a good thing in my case), is super sturdy and heavy-duty. The rail is light, reliable, and has no snagging corners since they are rounded off. This rail won't cut your hand like an aluminum rail with sharp edges and slot cutouts. With a little work, you can mount this onto anything, not just a Magpul forend. I managed to make it work with the included hardware, which functions quite well after drilling the holes and removing some material on the inside the forend for the forward nut and bolt. You really can't go wrong. If you're looking for a plain rail to rig up on whatever gun you may have, this is a good one, though, for the Weatherby PA-459 forend, I would suggest getting the L4 rail instead, which would be much quicker and easier to mount due to the shorter length.
Just what I needed
If you need a good, affordable rail section to add to the firearm of your choice, this is the right choice. In spite of being made of polymer, it's surprisingly stiff. No flex or give here, so you'll have an excellent solid rail to mount your optics or accessories to. It comes with mounting hardware as well. Magpul knows what they're doing with polymer firearms accessories.
It works as it is supposed to. I will ...
It works as it is supposed to. I will also note it was very durable. I ran in through several brutal applications and attempted to break it. It held steady, and hasn't failed yet. I currently use it as a bottom rail that holds my bipod on a .308 rifle that is shooting extremely hot loads, so it gets slightly abused every week. Still going strong!
Will do the job
Hard to write a review about a Magpul moe rail section, but this will do the job it is intended for. The shipping was speedy. Ordered on a Friday and received it the next Monday. I expected it to be made of aluminum, but I am not planning a trip to Afghanistan or planning to be in any "battles" anytime soon, so polymer should be durable enough for my needs. I have not added this to the rifle yet, so I can not comment on the fit.
Hard to believe this isn't metal
Bought this to mount on the underbelly of MOE long foregrip on AR-15. I went on smooth and looks like the two were made for each other. Mounted bipod on one end of the rail section and grip on the other. Both fore grip and rail handled the stresses without missing a beat. We will get more rail sections for the side mount slots of the foregrip. Between the flexibility of the foregrip design and the many rail section options, I can arrange all my furniture just the way I like it and make quick changes--even while on station at the range. I don't know what I want more: flexible design, durability, or styling. It doesn't matter though; this fits well, looks great, has a rock-solid ride, and leaves me enough $$ in the pocket to buy a few more rounds of ammo.
