Great redesign
I've been a fan of their mbus 2s, which I have on my 22 long rifle AR, had to get them for a comparison. Out of the box, the mbus 3 sights are designed for Picatinny rails, have standard AR-15 height, tool-less zero adjustment, and a dual-width front sight post. They're made of lightweight polymer. The front sight has a knob for elevation adjustments, while the rear sight offers windage adjustments and a dual aperture. The deployment mechanism is different; you press a button on the front, which I prefer over the side lever of the mbus 2s. Comparing them side by side, the mbus 3s are noticeably lower in profile and less bulky. The rear sight, too, is sleeker, with a more minimalistic adjustment knob. Magpul has done a commendable job with this redesign, offering a more streamlined sight without compromising on durability. I'm eager to test them out long-term on an upcoming project. For now, I'd lean towards the mbus 3s over the 2s for future needs.
I'm pleased
Their design stands out from earlier versions. Rather than using side levers, there's a central button to deploy them. The front sight adjustment is more user-friendly; you can simply twist it, unlike the previous model that required a tool. The rear sight offers two aperture options and lays flatter when not in use. Setting them up on my AR was a breeze. From what I've seen in videos, the push button should face forward, so I followed suit. They blend seamlessly with the gun, elevating its look. While I had thought about getting the Daniel Defense sights, I'm pleased with my choice. These sights have enhanced my AR's appearance, making it feel more polished. It was surprising to learn that many had been waiting eagerly for these sights.
great job Magpul
These new sights are more low-profile, resembling the mbus pro sights. Unlike the mbus 2, which had latches, the mbus 3 features a button for easy deployment. The spring feels stronger, and the front sight post adjustment is now tool-less, though initially stiff. The rear sight's aperture adjustment is also improved, and when compared side-by-side, the mbus 3 is slimmer and less bulky than the mbus 2. One thing I noticed is that deploying the mbus 3 requires using the center button, which is a slight change from the side latches of the mbus 2. Overall, Magpul did a great job with the mbus 3.
these sights are a bargain
Compared to the metal "pro" versions, these sights are a bargain. However, note that they can't be affixed to a gas block. You can effortlessly install them using an allen wrench or a flathead screwdriver. With a simple button press, they flip up and can be manually folded down. The rear sight is tailored for windage, while the front sight can be adjusted for both height and elevation. Interestingly, the front sight blade can switch between a wide and narrow edge, though this might alter your zero. Given their affordability relative to the metal counterparts, they're perfect as backup sights.
Worth the wait
I had the MBUS Gen 3 Rear sight on backorder for a while and was excited to receive it as soon as it started shipping. The wait was worth it - this sight is a massive improvement over the previous version. It is much smaller but still excellent and well-made. These are the best polymer sights on the market. I got exactly what I expected - a very nice backup iron sight (BUIS) that will enhance my rifle's performance. If you are considering upgrading your rifle with a new rear sight, check out the MBUS Gen 3 Rear sight. You won't be disappointed.
good upgrade
This Magpul mbus gen 3 sight is a great combination of slim and lightweight design with a sturdy feel. It's easy to flip up the sight, and Magpul did an excellent job with it. Overall, it's a perfect blend of the benefits of pro and regular Mbus sights.
