Better than MBUS2
This sight blends features from its predecessor and the pro model, yet comes at a more affordable price than the pro. It's more streamlined and sits closer to the rail than the earlier version, though it doesn't align perfectly flush. While it tends to tilt slightly upwards when not in use, pressing it down shows it can sit flush. Hopefully, this will self-adjust as the spring gets used. It's a minor quirk, but it's noticeable. Ensure you assess its height when extended. Due to its sleek design, the sights might not rise as high as you'd prefer, especially if you're pairing them with an optic. For instance, with my holosun red dot, they just slightly surpass the bottom. While it doesn't hinder the sight's view, it might be a concern if your optic is unusually elevated. However, this could be a potential issue with any iron sight. In conclusion, it's a commendable upgrade from the previous generation and is worth considering.
Exactly what I expected
This sight delivers precisely as anticipated. It boasts a robust polymer build, a steel sight post, and adjuster, and springs into action when deployed. Notably, its profile is significantly sleeker than the mbus 2. Additionally, I appreciate that, unlike its predecessors, it doesn't loudly hit the stops upon deployment. It's exactly what I hoped for, and I'm thoroughly pleased.
Best Polymer Flip-ups
I recently upgraded from the mbus 2 to the mbus 3, and the improvements are evident. They're more compact and lightweight, and they feel sturdier, though I'll need more time to judge their long-term durability. The side button from the mbus 2 is gone, which I initially missed, but it's a positive change. It allows for closer mounting of other accessories like lights or lasers. The deployment mechanism on the mbus 3 is more intentional; you have to press the top button near the front firmly. This design might prevent unintentional activations. Plus, the tool-less adjustment feature on the mbus 3 is a welcome convenience.
MBUS 3 Front and Rear Sights
I recently picked up the mbus 3 iron sights without even realizing they were new. I initially got them because I needed iron sights for my AR. The design is different from the previous versions. Instead of side levers, you press in the middle to pop them up. Adjusting the front sight is simpler; you can twist it directly, unlike the older ones where you needed a tool. The rear sight has two apertures, and it's flatter when folded down compared to the older version. Installing them on the AR was straightforward. I've seen videos where the push button faces forward, so that's how I set them up. They sit pretty flat on the gun, and when you need them, you just pop them up. They've given my AR a cleaner look, which I appreciate. I was considering the Daniel Defense sights, but I'm happy with these. They've transformed how I feel about my AR; it looks more complete now. I've read that some people waited a long time for these sights, which surprised me. I
sleeker design
The new sights have a sleeker design, taking cues from the mbus pro model. Instead of the latches found on the mbus 2, the mbus 3 introduces a central button for straightforward deployment. Its spring seems more robust, and adjusting the front sight post no longer requires tools, though it's a bit tight at first. The adjustment for the rear sight's aperture has been enhanced. When you place them side by side, the mbus 3 is noticeably more streamlined than its predecessor, the mbus 2. A notable difference is the central button deployment in the mbus 3, deviating from the mbus 2's side latches. Magpul has truly outdone themselves with the mbus 3.
ideal as backup sights
They're a great deal compared to the metal "pro" versions. However, they can't be mounted on a gas block. Installation is simple with just an allen wrench or screwdriver. They easily flip up with a button and fold back down manually. The rear sight adjusts for windage, and the front sight adjusts for height and elevation. The front sight blade is reversible, offering a wide or narrow edge, but adjusting might affect your zero. These sights are ideal as backup sights, especially given their price point compared to the metal versions. They come in black, fde, and OD Green.
good upgrade
This product is an excellent combination of a slim and lightweight design with a sturdy feel. It's easy to flip up the sight, and Magpul did a fantastic job with it. Overall, it's a perfect blend of the benefits of pro and regular Mbus sights.
Exactly what I expected
This mbus gen 3 is top-quality, with a solid polymer construction, steel sight post and adjuster, and a spring-deployed mechanism. It has a significantly slimmer profile than the Mbus 2, and a critical feature is that it doesn't make a loud noise when deployed like previous Mbus sights do. It's exactly what I expected, and I'm completely satisfied with my purchase.
