I found the Magpul asap sling mount to be worthy of 5 stars as far as function and product quality. Now, there were some setbacks as to the install for me. The endplate detent that comes with it that you (must use a needle nose pliers to install), is very difficult. I have a mil-spec upper, so I had to use the smaller of the two detents provided. Needle nose pliers are way too big. I ended up using tweezers and still took me about 20-30 mins to get it in the notch with the buffer tube lined up perfectly with the endplate notch. My eyesight is not near perfect, so we older guys must wear our reading glasses, at least. I recommend a vise and the AR vise block to set the lower receiver in as well. It would be tough to install without those two components. As far as functionality, with a single point sling, transitions are effortless (Remember, the more repetitions of perfect practice, the better you will be). Yes, the link that you attach the single point sling to is a bit noisy, but noise decreases once the sling is attached to this link. I guess for those who want to be super stealth, you could just cut off the link with bolt cutters, etc. and attach your sling directly to the rail on the endplate. These are my observations of course. I am not a guru by any means.

Love the Magpul ambidextrous sling attachment point, excellent quality. Like some have posted, it is a little noisy when nothing is attached to it (a little electrical tape fixes this). It was not hard to install as some have said, use some small angled needle nose pliers to fit the block, and you will be just fine. The only downer I had during my install was the detent spring got hung up on the stock plate and got busted up real bad, replaced it, and everything is together and working as advertised — overall great product.

This Magpul asap sling mount is designed really well. It's rock solid and allows for rapid and easy stance changes. I will say, though, if you're worried about scuffing up your buffer tube, this isn't for you. The little steel loop that hangs off is kind of marring the finish on my buffer tube. I could care less, but I know people who would get upset about it.

Purchased this Magpul receiver end plate with the Magpul rail connector. Works perfectly with the Magpul MS3 sling. The way it works for left or right hand shooting really adds to the versatility.l could have dipped in rubber for quietness since it does jingle quite a bit. Maybe they will address that since other users have mentioned the same problem.

Using this ASAP sling mount will depend on what your shooting particulars are...it is a single point sling mount...your AR will hang in a downward position....going thru drills or competition (Depending on what type of competition you are into) this sling allows for quick and easy rifle mounting and firing. And it is comfortable to hang around your neck for long durations. Again...if you use your AR for hunting/etc....I would not use this ASAP sling mount....sure you can install and leave the factory mounts in place. But for straight-up hunting? I wouldn't. A standard two-point sling configuration would best suit a hunting situation. Installation....there are two keys supplied with this sling mount....you have to use the correct key (You'll understand when you receive the mount). You must be calm and patient when installing this ASAP sling mount...it is not difficult...there is the detent spring that has to be compressed. The correct key must be placed into position and keeping all things in place and then tightening the castle nut...but this isn't rocketing science...just be calm and do not get frustrated...it is an excellent addition for the AR platform if you want a single point sling mount. It does allow for fast pointing and firing of your AR.

Ordered the Magpul end plate then watch installation videos. To be honest, I was starting to regret ordering. Every video I watch said the supplied keyway was difficult to install. I'm new to owning an AR & never disassembled one while I the service 30 years ago other than field stripping for cleaning, so I was intimidated, and the videoed didn't help. But followed instructions and took no more than 15 min from start to function test. The time also included 5 min looking for my needle nose pliers & 2-3 min trying to install without the pliers. If I had had the pliers before starting, this would have bee a sub-10-minute install. I was not disappointed in the quality or functionality to wish we would have had the single point slings when I carried this weapon in the service. Would recommend.

I am a lefty; my boys all shoot righty. I put the Magpul ASAP on a 16" M4 in .300 BLK. I also purchased the Bungee one point sling. I am 5'8," and the carbine hangs below my left armpit with the barrel end at my left knee. It is effortless to swing the rifle up to firing position instantaneously with this setup. I will be retrofitting ALL of the AR15 carbines that I share with my sons with this device.

I have to say such a simple product that is so versatile I don't see a reason ever not to use this sling mount. For tactical use, before you install, rubber coat the ring so it doesn't jingle. Great product.

This endplate is a pretty solid piece I feel it is stronger than the quick detach socket versions. It does rattle a bit. The small key that aligns the receiver extension might not be perfect, but it does go in easy if your receiver is held in a vise and you are using needle-nose pliers. It will not work with my ctr stock collapsed completely but did let me collapse it all the way it just won't slide to the right side. I have added a couple of pics. With the sling over your shoulder, the snap-hook is not in the way but could be otherwise. Manipulation of your grip hand could be compromised in certain situations but that aside I think this is one of the best attachment systems out there. If you have never bought anything from Magpul, they include clear instructions on the inside of their packaging with illustrations — a very novel and ingenious method. And I guess I might add someone out there is bound to lose that little key, get your self a file and make a new one the world is filled with scrap metal...Happy shooting.

This is an excellent addition to any rifle. If you like to run a one-point sling set up, then this is what you need. I would recommend this for all build. It will be going on all my rifles. It is important to note, however, that you will need the AR wrench tool to loosen the castle nut, etc.
