Great product - with caveots
I have two main points about reflex sights. First, I've noticed that green dots in these sights don't really have a big advantage over red ones, even though they can be more expensive and use up batteries faster. This is different from laser sights, where green can be easier to see in bright light. With reflex sights, the color (red or green) shows up on the glass and both are easy to see (I have both colors, so I've seen this myself). Second, the auto-brightness feature on these sights is great in the daytime, but at night or in dark places, it's not so good. If you're using a flashlight, the dot might be hard to see because the sight adjusts to the light around it, not the light on your target. You can switch to manual mode, but you have to remember to do it every night and then switch back in the morning. Despite these points, I still think these sights are a good choice because they're reliable and a good deal compared to other brands.
My first red dot
I really wanted to try out a Red Dot sight, so after doing a lot of research, I chose the Holosun HS507C. I put it on my Glock 21 using a special adapter from Outer Impact, which was great because I didn't have to change my gun too much. I set it up and used a laser to help me aim because bullets are pretty expensive right now. I watched lots of videos to learn how to use it well, and the big circle on the sight makes it easier to see where I'm aiming.
Good sight with lots of features for the price.
I recently equipped my Glock Model 45 in 9mm with this sight, which boasts the shake awake feature - an ideal addition for a self-defense firearm. Additionally, it includes a backup solar panel, adding an innovative touch. While I would have preferred a 6 MOA dot for greater visibility, the 2 MOA dot it comes with is excellent for precision shooting. The sight also features user-friendly buttons and a comprehensive range of adjustments. Considering its price, the sight offers an impressive array of features. Although I haven't used it long enough to fully assess its durability, I would certainly recommend it based on my current experience.
Been into RDS for some time now
I've experimented with various red dot sights and was quite settled on the RMR, especially since I carry it daily for work in challenging environments. However, everything changed when I attended an Instructor School where many participants were using Holosun. It outperformed all others, impressively avoiding any failures. Here's why it stands out: Firstly, it arrives almost perfectly zeroed straight out of the box. It's astonishing - mount it, shoot, and see how accurate it is before making any adjustments. Secondly, it's priced at about half of what an RMR costs. The combination of solar and battery power extends its battery life significantly. Plus, the battery compartment is conveniently located on the side, eliminating the need to remove the sight for battery changes. You have full control over its operation, including the ability to turn it off and tweak settings. A major advantage is the reticle design. The surrounding circle is a game-changer for target acquisition. When aiming, if you spot any part of the circle, you instantly know which direction to adjust to find the center. Additionally, if the circle is on the target, chances are high you'll hit your mark, especially within 25 yards. Holosun offers both open and closed emitter options, with the latter being ideal for rainy conditions. The 507 model fits the RMR footprint perfectly, while the 509 model attaches like a rail. After trying numerous red dot sights, Holosun is, without a doubt, my top choice.
I would buy the red dot again.
I'm really fond of the 2 MOA dot encircled by the 32 MOA ring on this optic. It significantly simplifies the process of quickly locating the dot and accurately aligning it with the target, while still offering a fine dot for precise shooting. I mounted it on my 92G LTT Elite using the LTT optics plate, which has made shooting with this gun an absolute delight. The only minor drawback is the size of the control buttons; they're a bit small for my larger fingers. Turning the dot off requires pressing both buttons simultaneously, which can be a bit challenging for me, but it's not a deal-breaker by any means. Overall, I'm so satisfied with its performance that I would definitely consider purchasing it again.
The Holosun 507c x2 compared to the Trijicon SRO
I recently acquired my first Holosun 507c x2, having previously used three Trijicon SROs. My experience with the SROs has been overwhelmingly positive, especially appreciating their large, round view, and they've been reliable for over a year. However, when looking for an optic for my Springfield 10mm, I was hesitant to invest in another SRO due to the increased price. This led me to choose the 507c x2, which was over $200 less expensive. The versatility of the 507c x2's reticle options, ranging from dot, to circle, to dot within a circle, was a pleasant surprise. I particularly enjoy the dot within a circle setting, more than I initially anticipated. While the single dot is decent, it doesn't surpass the SRO in my opinion. The side battery mount of the 507c x2 is a convenient feature, allowing for battery changes without removing the optic. Testing it on the 10mm was crucial, and initially, the optic did come loose after firing over 100 rounds, despite having lock tight on the screws. After reapplying more lock tight and adjusting everything, the optic held up well during the next session of about 75 rounds, maintaining zero impressively. At a distance of 25 yards, I was able to hit a small box of empty ammo consistently, which speaks volumes about its accuracy. Personally, I prefer manual controls over automatic shut-offs, similar to my preference with the SRO. So far, I'm very pleased with the performance and appearance of the Holosun 507c x2. The significant price difference while still delivering excellent performance is a major plus for me.
