Compatible with Picatinny Scope Rings or Weaver scope rings.
This one piece mount was specifically developed for the Savage 42.
Savage references Part #41942, however Part #41950 is the part number that you need for the 42 and 42T.
Picatinny cross slots run the full length of the rail, which gives the shooter flexibility when mounting scope rings and other accessories. The channel in the center reduces the overall mass of the mount. Also, in many cases, it will not obstruct usage of factory iron sights. Our one-piece scope mounts are the obvious choice for hunters and tactical shooters alike.
We machine these in our shop using one of our machining centers. After machining, the mounts are tumbled, sand blasted, and Type II anodized for long lasting durability.
Installation: Evolution Gun Works recommend 20 inch lbs of torque and a drip of blue loctite (loctite is available through our website and is sold separately).
The entire mount and accessories (from the mounting screws and wrench down to the packaging) are made in the USA.

Fantastic mount, more than happy with my purchase. Solid machined aluminum with a black finish. It fits perfectly; the two mounting screws are sturdy. I used a torque wrench to tighten them to spec, 20 inch/lbs per the instructions. My Tru-Glo site mounted securely and stayed firm after sighting both .22lr and .410 barrels

This works great to mount a Red Dot Sight on. My savage looks a little silly with the Red Dot that I chose (vortex strikefire), but boy, is it accurate. I got a good deal on the Vortex, and the quality is excellent!

The Evolution Gun Works Scope Base for the Savage Model 42 is precisely what I needed. I had recently bought the Savage Model 42 at a Gander Mountain going-out-of-business sale. It is a long gun that I have been eying for a very long time. When I finally got it, the very next day, I went to the range with it. I had heard about the horrible reviews of the sights. Although I was pretty accurate with the plastic "iron" sights, I felt the need to upgrade my sights. That's where the Evolution Gun Works Scope Base came into play. After installing the mount, I ordered a set of Vortex Optics scope rings, which were also fantastic quality, and mounted my scope to the long gun. I had a small 4x15 scope lying and knew it would complete the slim—simple, minimalist look of this firearm. The next day I went shooting, and the mount held just fine, and the scope worked about as well as I expected it to as well!

The fit was excellent, very solid, and included all hardware and the Allen wrench. Perfect purchase for upgrading the sights or adding an optic to your Savage M42.
