Q: Is the “Gun Scrubber Firearm Cleaner” the same as the “Gun Scrubber Synthetic Safe” formula?
A: Yes, the product labeling did not specify “Synthetic Safe” but it is the same formula. Cans with UPC code of 0 29057 33340 4 and 0 29057 33344 2 have and will always be “synthetic safe.”
Q: Will Gun Scrubber damage plastic?
A: Gun Scrubber may harm some plastics, painted surfaces, synthetic stocks, camouflage finishes and wood finishes. Do not allow product to pool on, in or under firearm, or components to reduce the possibility of damage. Test an area before using.
Q: Why does the label on my Gun Scrubber look different than on the website?
A: There are currently 3 labels of Gun Scrubber.
Q: Why does the product not spray when I can feel that the can is not empty?
A: If the Gun Scrubber® can is not held straight up and down when in use there can be a disproportionate amount of propellant used. This can result in all the propellant being used up despite some product remaining in the can.

I use this gun scrubber to get the gunk out of where I can't reach, and it is safe for every gun. But what made me write this review is Birchwood Casey's customer support. While holding an assembly in one hand, I tried to take the cap off the can and broke the nozzle off. I sent BC an email suggesting they redesign the nozzle so if it gets broken, it can be replaced. Without even asking for a replacement, they sent me a new can.

I'm a rural gunsmith in S.C., and about a year ago, I decided to find out which of the many aerosol gun cleaners was the best for my purposes. (I don't use them to clean the guns thoroughly, but they do come in handy during disassembly to blast off the funky, sandy trigger groups so they won't crud up my parts washer too badly.) I ordered 12 cans each of every brand and made my U.P.S. man sweat! Bottom line: Birchwood-Casey Gun Scrubber outperformed all the rest. It's the best at cutting the impacted crud out of tight places, has the strongest spray, hasn't hurt any finishes yet, dries fast, doesn't make the parts super-cold, so they sweat, and doesn't stink up the shop if I spray it inside at night. Took a while to use up all those other brands, but they've gone and I'm on here again to order some Gun Scrubber!

Whenever possible, I scrub the parts with a suitable quality solvent, and then I use a few blasts of birchwood Casey gun scrubber to get the solvent and gunk out and get everything clean. It's also handy for getting into the places you can't access on a field strip level cleaning. Always remember to do good lubrication on everything after using it, and you can't go wrong. The categories they give here are not very inclusive. I am prior military and LEO who is now a private security professional who shoots weekly at a minimum, so I shoot and clean my guns a lot. Yes, even my Glocks. ;-)

This gunscrubber will cut down your cleaning time by 75%. You will still need to use another cleaning agent and a little scrubbing, but 30 seconds are spraying down parts and a few minutes on the details, and you are done with the bulk of your cleaning. The only thing left is barrel and oiling. So fast. Wear eye protection; this stuff comes out with a vengeance!

This Gun Scrubber is useful for hard to reach places that patches or fingers cannot go. I use this for my star chamber in AR-15s. It vaporizes after use, so it is vital that you hold your firearm part at an angle so the carbon can drain out of it while the scrubber is still wet.

I have used Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber since the 1980s and found that it is wonderful for washing out hard to reach crevices such as those found in semi-automatic actions. It melts through residues and washes away small fragments. If you have places in your firearm that are hard to reach with a brush or you simply want to speed your semi-auto action cleaning time, this is the product that you need. Just apply a light coat of Break Free after you're done, and you're good to go.

I use this gun cleaner to spray away minor oil seepage on my truck's engine. This is the perfect lazy man's way to clean firearms!!! No downside to this cleaner, only positive! The 15 oz cans are the only way to go.

I just wanted to spread the word that there's only one formula of Gun Scrubber now. Birchwood Casey stopped making the non-synthetic version at the beginning of the year. They've relabeled the can, but it lacks the distinguishing phrasing of synthetic safe. The new can looks a lot like the old non-synthetic version to add to the confusion. Look at the bar-code on the back; if it's got 33340 or 33344 on it, then it's the synthetic safe formula. Happy cleaning.
