After years of unsatisfactory experiences with attempting to mount an optic on my M1A - due to the use of a now discontinued see-through picatinny base made by Smith Enterprises which did not allow for proper eye relief and was overly heavy as well - the acquisition of this AMRS18 mount has finally solved my dilemma. Aside from being lighter, this base also rides lower so I can attain proper stock weld without the need for a cheek riser. Add in an RDS optic that has "unlimited" eye relief, and I finally have an optimum set up for my main battle rifle.

Bought the A.R.M.S. #18 for my Springfield M1A loaded walnut. Probably the best scope mount for the m14/m1a rifle because most raise the scope so high and getting a solid cheek well is next to impossible without a cheek riser. This mount sits low enough that the sights are still usable and the base is under the sights. Ejects just fine and cleaning isn’t all that much harder with it installed. Paired with a Vortex Viper PST Gen2 5-25x50 ffp, and Leupold medium QRW2 30mm QD rings. I don’t feel that a cheek riser is necessary, but it might be nice to have.

Best looking and functioning M1A mount out there. Very slim profile, nice and low. Doesn’t look like a piece of angle iron screwed to the side of your $1500+ gun. I used in conjunction with a Nikon M308 scope (42mm) and weaver skeleton 4 hole medium rings (.25” high) and I just had to lower the rear right aperature down to the lowest setting (13clicks so I know where to go back to) and it’s debatable whether I need a cheek riser. I was happy with how low I got my scope after hearing all the stories of high mounted scopes out there.
