I purchased this rifle stock because I was in search of a CQR Gen 1 stock. When I saw it on the Hera Arms website, I was drawn to its unique design and the use of a rifle-length buffer system. After using it, I can say that it feels perfect on a rifle.

I've been searching for a new style of stock and have looked at many different options. This one caught my attention because it was different from the others. The hand grip feels good and the finger grips are great. The butt stock is small at the end, which fits well on my shoulder. There are five mount points for slings, two of which are for quick release.

Purchased this stock for an unusual rifle build - a 12.7x42mm (.50 Beowulf) rifle. It seemed like the perfect "otherworldly" stock for an unconventional AR-15 build. During the installation process, I realized that I needed an A2-style, non-adjustable buffer tube. So, I ordered a new one and swapped it out with one from another rifle that had a fixed A2 stock. The stock bolted together nicely once the grip was secured, but I had to drill out the pistol grip bolt hole because it was too small in diameter to allow the regular bolt to pass through. Once I enlarged the hole slightly, the stock bolted up easily. Overall, the stock feels solid and comfortable to hold. It looks great, too. I'll update this review after firing some rounds with it, but so far it seems ready for hunting dinosaurs or alien beings.

I used this stock to mock up a 9mm PCC build and what a unique look. Haven't finished the build yet, but it sure brings out the "Wow" factor.

This stock fits well and looks fantastic. Lots of strap options and a comfortable grip. The only thing that maybe could be improved is a little longer butt pad and/or adjustable cheek rest.

Overall it's ok, I'll keep it on the gun, and I will use it. I love the look and it is very unique. Fair warning, I have several Gen 1 buttstocks and it is my favorite grip and stock--it is the most comfortable for I have found. That said, the Gen 2 solves a couple of problems the Gen 1 has but creates others. Compared to the Gen 1 the safety spring is installed like normal instead of the janky rubber piece you had to fiddle with to get in. Also, the grip screw is like installing a normal grip instead of fighting with a strange install angle. However, the Gen 2 buttpad is comically small--anything with a heavier recoil is like getting hit with a hammer if you can keep it from sliding up and off your shoulder. I'm also not a fan of individually carved finger grooves in grips. They never seem to be where I want them and this has a ridge above the top groove that digs in right behind the knuckle on my trigger finger. The Gen 1s I have are the California compliant models that I have removed the plate, in case I ever move to a state that requires that. It isn't available for the Gen 2. I don't notice a difference in the plastic quality between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 but I never really had a problem with the Gen 1 material. I don't see any problems with the durability. Bottom line is I still prefer the Gen 1 more but I'm glad I got the Gen 2 also.

I just needed to clarify; this stock uses an A2 smooth buffer tube. It fits perfectly in the stock and bolts in at the rear before the butt pad goes on. It takes a rifle length buffer and spring as well. The stock screws that hold it together may need to be loosened to get the stock fully seated over the tube. Then everything tightens up and it's rock solid. The polymer material is far superior to the gen 1 stock and I really don't have a single complaint about the parts or installation. The stock is a bit on the long side for my personal taste, and the small butt pad definitely feels small. I just finished the build and haven't shot the rifle yet, but I'm very happy with it so far.
