Instead of getting a "pre-stocked" earthquake kit, and probably never crack open the kit to find out what's inside, our family opted to put together a list of things we need or think we need. Of issue, always, is lighting. And while we have a stock of flashlights and batteries, we felt it was important to have a backup lighting option. While these safety light sticks don't put out the same amount of lumens as our LED mega-flashlights, it's amazing how dark your house can get at night, when there's no power. These sticks put out enough light to keep you from falling down the stairs in your house and, while you can't turn them on and off, will work in the rain, snow, etc.

My husband ordered two boxes of these safety light sticks to use for a church presentation (children singing while holding glow lights instead of candles...much safer than real candles). He ordered the green ones, and with a single snap, we were amazed at how bright the lights were even in daylight. They are made of a very thick plastic, so it would be hard for a small child to break one open. These are nothing like the cheap products you buy in a package for kids to wear or carry that end up breaking open and spill all over them. This is a heavy-duty product. A plus is the fact that they are nontoxic. We didn't actually time the number of hours the light burned, but we activated one at 6 p.m. and it was still burning bright when we went to bed at midnight. They are supposed to last 12 hours. These would be good emergency lights for the car or in the home. Another great use would be to tie one of these to your child's trick-or-treat bag or incorporate it into their costume so they can be seen easily by drivers.

I also use these ameriglo light sticks for camping, and sometimes I use for hunting as well depending on the area. These are pretty bright, and if I am hunting on public land, I will hand these in the bush nearby or tree to signify where I am when others are coming in. Nothing worse than having someone sit 10 feet ya. These do not last as long as the red but then again I am not in an area where I need to worry about 8+ hours of light through the night. Pros: Awesome light, haven't had any issues with any I have bought Cons: None Great product , wish more people used them while hunting to mark areas they are while public land bow or rifle hunting.

My son is at the age where he is starting to be afraid of the dark. He doesn't want his nightlight on when he goes to bed. He had kids type chemlight from going to a birthday party, and he took it to bed. He LOVED the idea. I had some of the cyalume version in the garage in case of power outages, and so the next night he took it with him. This provides him enough light that he isn't afraid of the dark, but also allows him to control how much light is in the room by covering the safety light stick with his blankets. These are still giving off light 12 hours later. Of course, it isn't as bright as when the light is first activated, but it is not bad. The price (about a dollar a piece) is a bargain for my family! I have to re-stock my emergency supply because he is taking a stick lightstick to bed just about every night now. Love that we've found something that makes bed time easier.

I purchased these ameriglo light sticks to put in my glove compartment for emergencies after dark (such as a flat tire) as flashlight batteries go dead WAY too fast in a hot car. That said, these things are BRIGHT! Like the ones, we used in the military. It remained glowing for many hours, much more than 12, but max light output only lasted 4 hours or so before they started to slowly fade (more than enough time to change a tire, find a fuse box, put one in the bathroom during a power outage, etc.). These are great value for what you get; they are not at all like those cheap dollar store ones. Very highly recommended, I will be purchasing more!

I had just let my kids use the last of these safety light sticks for a sleepover. They were at least 7 years old! They put out an awesome amount of useful light for at least 12hours. They actually stayed illuminated for approximately 16 hours. So I ordered more from MSP, and when i received these, I was equally as pleased as I was with the ones I was replacing. See attached images for packaging and lot number/expiration dates. I would definitely purchase these again. I will update after using about 50% of the package I purchased.

I got these safety light sticks as prizes for my elementary students for good work or meeting classroom behavior goals. The kids love them because they are fun and come with a necklace option, and the parents love that they are not candy. They last a long time from what I am told, and best of all, you can "recharge" them several times by tossing them in the freezer for a couple of hours!

I am very happy with these ameriglo light sticks. They are super bright compared to the ones that I buy at the department store. It’s a large bag enough for a party and great quality. 2 days and still growing strong!

Very bright green safety light stick. Lasted much longer than was expected. Cool temps may have helped with that. Lasted over 12 hours outdoors on Oct 31.
