Good optic for those with less than perfect vision

The color of the gold dot on this sight works a whole lot better for me than red or green. I have very bad astigmatism, mostly corrected by glasses. Red dots, in particular, look smeared to me. Green is better. The pale yellow of this dot appears to be almost perfect. With care in adjusting the brightness, it can be crisp and round, especially in bright sunlight. The scope itself and mount feel like they are constructed with strength and forethought. The adjustment knobs are well protected. It was super easy to get it dialed in to match the already sighted in backup sights on my AR, which got me within an inch or so of final adjustment. Took off one star for the brightness adjustment dial. The resistance has a lot of variance noticed through the adjustment range, going from light to heavy to light as it goes from 0 to 12. It's already broken in and gotten a lot better, but it's not quite right. Still haven't decided if it bothers me enough to seek an exchange.

I bought this sight for my turkey gun because my boys are colorblind, and the gold dot is supposed to work better for many types of colorblindness. So far, I've liked the dot color. It has two different mounting heights, adjustment knobs in a protective housing, and a rheostat-type control, which I prefer over "+/-" buttons. The single dot works fine for hunting, so there's no need to spend more on additional reticle options. To avoid losing the rubber lens cover, I'll use a piece of paracord to secure it, as it fits loosely and could get knocked off when the shotgun is slung. Overall, this sight is a great value—trim and effective.
