Buffer Technologies Colt 1911 & Clones Recoil Buffer
Gunsmiths around the world have long recommended that recoil buffers be used in the 1911. And why not? They reduce muzzle jump, they reduce felt recoil and they extend the pistol's service life as well!
Installation is a breeze and requires no tools. In a couple of minutes you'll be ready to head for the range and you'll have no trouble feeling the difference the first time you shoot with it!
With all the custom parts available for the 1911 and its many clones, you can very quickly invest many hundreds of dollars into it. But when the actions starts to loosen, all those custom parts become just so many pieces. So why not give your pistol the highest degree of protection available, the Buffer Technologies 1911 Recoil Buffer™!
What Is A Recoil Buffer?? What Can It Do For Your Gun?
A Recoil Buffer is a product designed by Buffer Technologies to cushion the trauma your bolt and receiver experience during normal cartridge discharge.
Each carefully designed buffer is made from a polyurethane with specific shock-absorbing properties. When it is placed between the bolt and what it slams against at the extreme range of its travel, the buffer acts as a gentle cushion. Without the buffer, the bolt is driven backwards to make direct violent contact with another piece of steel. In time, this pounding takes its toll. The gun becomes less accurate and the action becomes dangerously loose.
The distinction between inferior quality and premium 1911 Accessories is undeniable. At MSP, we only offer 1911 recoil reduction solutions from the most trusted brands like Buffer Technologies. Buy with confidence that we stand behind the product we sell.

works well
I like these buffers for my 1911 10mm. The 10mm tends to be reasonably rough on 1911 frames, and while I don't believe the hype about them reducing felt recoil, I do think they help reduce wear on the firearm. They are durable and only have to change it after around 800-1000 rounds.
It fits as described
It fits as described. I haven't tested my pistol at the range yet to see how it performs.
unknown item to many 1911 shooters
There are many people out there that do not know the benefits of using this item to protect their investment against cracked frames and damaged frames. I own 15 different 45's, and I would not shoot without one of these buffers in place. I was introduced to these by a gunsmith and am a firm believer in their use. They do not need to be replaced unless you notice crushing signs on the bushing while cleaning your weapon. If you try these, you will notice it reduces the slamming when the slide moves to the rear during recoil!
These fit the best of the
These fit the best of the Buffer Technology products and really do reduce the shock of the metal slide impacting the metal frame. I have used them for years in 1911's with and without guide rods. Are they necessary?? That is open for debate, heck the model 1911 survived 75 or so years without them, and most are still around but I do feel better with them in place if I am shooting any of the +P loads.
I use these in my Colt
I use these in my Colt Series 70 with a Gemtech Suppressor, and they really make a difference in it since I shoot it both suppressed and un-suppressed. With the Gemtech Suppressor on it, there is a noticeable increase in recoil, but with these buffers, in place, it prevents the frame from taking a beating. The only downside is that they don't last very long, but then again, for the price and considering how often I take my slide off to clean my gun, it really is no big thing. I would much rather change these inexpensive recoil buffers every 700 to 800 rnds instead of changing my frame!
Good Stuff
The buffer I had in the gun was wore-out! I put this one in, and it works just fine. I have not taken the gun (Colt 1911, NM, Goldcup) apart to check the ware, and I've only shot it a few times since I replaced the buffer. It shoots as good as it ever has, so I think it is Good Stuff.
Nice Recoil Buffer
These recoil buffers are easy to install and function well. I had used these pads before and purchased another set for a new, less expensive Girsan 45 ACP. They truly lessen the recoil shock on the hardware and my old bones. Shooting a 45 acp is more pleasant since the shooter doesn't anticipate the recoil as much, making it easier to relax the muscles. No complaints.
Works as advertised
Nothing fancy, but it does the job, and well. I use these buffers on my SA loaded 1911. They fit perfectly, allow me to slingshot the slide, and the pistol function is not impacted at all. I would strongly recommend to others. For a purely SD gun you might not want to add another potential point of failure, but if you shoot a great deal they are of value. However, after over 500 rounds of target loads, there is no sign of wear on the buffer.
