Base for vortex venom sight
As I was putting the base on a custom gun, it needed to be fitted. I had to draw file to remove about .008 off the bottom.
YES ,YES AND YES I WOULD BUY IT AGAIN
I used this sight on a 460 ROWLAND AND WAS AFTER I TRY A TRIJICON AND A BURRIS THOSE COULD NOT TAKE THE RECOIL. THAT PISTOL SHOOTS A 200 GRAIN BULLET AT 1474 FT/SEC IT HAS A MUZZLE AND I INSTALLED A 26 POUNDS RECOIL SPRING I MENTION THIS SO YOU KNOW WHAT KIND OF RECOIL THIS PISTOL HAVE. THIS SIGHT KEEP THE ZERO GOOD AND I CAN SHOOT 6 INCH GROOPS AT 75 YARDS. I LOVE THE HIGH POWER HAND GUNS I ALSO HAVE A RUGER 44 MAG AND A 500 S&W
First pistol red dot.
I was impressed with the sight. Allows you to shoot with both eyes open without any problem. I have it on a dedicated hunting pistol. Reading a lot of reviews help me decide on this sight. I had read about what issues to look for. Mine originally had the intermittent turning-off issue. Solved the problem this is DC power and it requires a good connection. The six or so shiny metal contact tabs around the edge that contact the rim of the battery need to be bent inward slightly. Only slightly too much, and the battery will be hard to get in. This also helps hold the battery in and down, making the cap much easier to screw on. The sight stayed on flawlessly after this fix and saved sending it back.
I would buy this product again
Mounted on a Ruger Mk IV using the Ruger Picatinny rail. Works great, and very pleased... Sight adjustments work tremendous and were able to adjust to point of aim... Easy to remove and transfer to another pistol or rifle if desired... My eyes are not what they used to be and this is the perfect set-up... Getting the battery door closed is a bit of a challenge for both this sight and the Burris Fast Fire III... Vortex provides a unique tool that helps, as well as a dust cover that's useful while cleaning and carrying in a range bag.....
Great optics
I use this on a Glock 40 10mm auto Results were more than impressive. My wife tried it.... I found the Vortex to be "wonderful" All controls are easy to reach and use....well thought out product. It's great!
Great sight!
Bought this for my S&W Model 627-5 in .357 magnum. I use it for bowling pin matches, and once it's set, it's set. Even .357 Magnum rounds don't change the zero on it. I've got close to 1,000 Magnum rounds through it and no loss of zero.
Excellent Red Dot Sight
The product was delivered promptly. The sight was very easy to install on my M&P 15 and easy to zero in. I managed to lose the caps for the windage and elevation controls. I emailed Vortex to ask if I could buy replacements. They responded by sending replacements free of charge. I would recommend this product to a friend.
Simply wow!
This is far more impressive than expected, as a four tour combat veteran as a Navy Combat Diver and active duty PMC SPECIAL FORCES OPERATOR. I've used many types of red dot sights, from EOTech to DARPA classified sights. This is just a clean looking, clear lensed, heavy-duty "I mean this thing can take one hell of a beating and stay zeroed" red dot optic. I own 3, have one on a 300blackout custom AR15, a Ruger M1A CQB, and my HK416D plinker, quick target acquisition, excellent battery life good looking and durable what more can you ask for. Buy this now no need to spend $500 on EOTech/Aimpoint
A Red Dot Sight sight for old eyes
I plan to shoot a .22 S&W Victory autoloader in Steel Challenge this spring. I'm a far-sighted geezer, so I must wear corrective lenses to get that front sight in focus. I selected the Vortex Venom sight due to its small size on the Victory. Once I had sighted it in (an east chore), I was impressed with the clarity of the three moa dot, especially when set on auto-brightness. Then I discovered that the dot is virtually parallax-free. Place the dot on the target and squeeze! My most recent discovery is that my far-sighted corrective glasses are no longer needed. With normal non-corrective shooting glasses, I am able to focus on the target and dot simultaneously!
This is like cheating!
I shoot competitively on a local level with a heavily modified Glock 34. this has been the single biggest boon to my accuracy at any distance. In retrospect, if I was shooting for accuracy, trying for the smallest grouping possible, I would look for a smaller dot. But the 3 MOA is fast. Fast to acquire your target, and faster to get back on target after the shot. I enjoy this red dot. I included a video of me shooting with it only a couple of weeks after mounting.
Not bad red dot, could easily be better
It is made overseas. Would give it five stars if the windage and elevation knobs had positive clicks or locking set screws. Though this is a budget sight compared to a Trijicon, this is still not "cheap," and these added features would make a good sight excellent IMO. For the price will still buy again easily.
I am very pleased with my Vortex Venom red dot sight
I purchased this unit for my Glock 34 MOS. Vortex will supply the correct length mounting screws at no charge. You need to call them to get these. I do not work in law enforcement, so this is a range gun and a personal defense weapon. I am very impressed at the speed of target acquisition and accuracy. I am sure the combination of the Glock and this Vortex sight is much better than the accuracy that these old eyes can obtain. I can recommend this sight without reservation.
